there is often talk about good bars in NYC, but for us island folk...where are the hot spots? i know of a few, but i'd love to learn about more. my favorite is The Good Life and i've also been impressed with Tap n Barrel and a few others, mostly in eastern long island but i'd love to be turned onto some bars closer to home. let me know your favs.
Aside from Evan's house, The Black Sheep Ale House in Mineola sounds like a nice option. Of course that's a short LIRR ride from me in Queens.
my house pours a lot of out of state distro stuff and only bottles...i'm looking for a place where i can get a solid pint on draft.
ha...i didn't see one in your apt either! what am i going to do drink one beer all the time for a few weeks? you crazy! a ticker's gotta tick. variety son...variety
Black Sheep is really good, they recently had BCBCS on tap and it was amazing. The Good Life has fantastic beer dinners if you've ever been, but their beers are priced as if they were in NYC. Little ridiculous if you ask me. Tap and Barrel is very good, solid draft list. The Croxleys in Farmingdale is the best one of that bunch, big space, big tap list. Hoptron Brewtique is beautiful, absolutely love that place. Bobbique is nice and has great food, and is, literally down the block from Hoptron. The Lark and The Republic are good smaller craft bars, same owner as the Good Life I believe, so they are sort of expensive. The Dark Horse in RVC is decent, not a huge tap list, but they have their own beer and last weekend they had BCBS on tap, good prices too. Gets crowded late night though. John Harvards, Black Forest Brewhaus, and The Brickhouse. Brewpubs, I'm sure you've been. Prost and Plattsdeuchse (those are 2 seperate places), are great German beer hall style restaurant/bars with very good food. If I think of more I'll add later...
Can't forget about Finleys. Always a great selection of craft beers. It's my goto when I come back to LI
