I will be travelling to LA next week and staying near the staples center. Looking for any reccomendations for a good bottle shop to pick and ship some stuff home and also some good craft beer bars I can check out around this area.

    Thanks

I can't pick a place downtown but Verdugo isn't too far for some proper pints

Sunset Beer Company in Echo Park is a decent bottle shop. Little Bear Bar in the Arts District downtown is a great Belgian beer bar. It's from the guy behind Verdugo Bar. Tony's Darts Away is good, but maybe too far from downtown. Beer Belly in Koreatown is amazing, but also maybe too far. There's also Buzz Wine Beer Shop downtown, not too far from where you'll be. People rave about it, but the service is hipster-horrid, and I'm not usually bothered by hipsters at all. This place, however, is all most too much to bear, but if you don't/can't travel too far, this is a good option

The best place is easily Craft Beer Kings in the San Gabriel Valley, but it's probably about 30-40 minutes east of where you'll be. If you are willing to spend the cash on a cab or if you plan on renting a car, definitely, and i can't emphasize this enough GO THERE.

I can give more recommendations depending on how mobile you'll be.

if you head to Sunset Beer Company, which you should, you should also check out Mohawk Bend just down the road.

i 2nd Mr Cooper's opinion of Buzz. i guess if you're on vacation and don't feel like driving all over it's an option, but they are insultingly overpriced

also downtown, Spring St usually has a decent tap selection and makes a good sandwich. and Far Bar is a cool, hidden bar with a good tap list and bottle selection (food so so in my opinion)

Forgot about Far Bar. I also recommend them. Usually a great to intriguing tap list. I've usually enjoyed my meals there, but I've had one or two mediocre experiences. Mohawk Bend is also great. Food is kind of all over the place, but the tap list is usually fantastic.

Beer Belly is like 15 minutes away on the Purple Line, Buzz is terrible go to Weird Beers 7th between Spring and Broadway. The only reason to go to Buzz is because they are open really late.
