    Hey guys,

Im looking to start trading so i can get the opportunity to enjoy beers that i normally wouldnt be able to get here in massachusetts.

One thing I need help with is what are good beers that i can get in the massachusetts/rhode island area that would be worthy of trades to people in other states. Im always going to liquor stores searching for specialties but i feel as though none of them are really popular names in the trade forum. But maybe they are on the shelf and im just looking over them because im unaware.

I know Jack Abbeys Framinghammer's are sought after, but does anyone else from the massachusetts rhode island area with some trading experience know what else people want? or maybe people that arent from massachusetts that know of beers they like from around here

    Thanks

Some of what I've traded for from your area:
    Trillium
    Wormtown-Be Hoppy and Be Hoppier
    The mentioned Jacks Abby
    TreeHouse
    Night Shift
    New England Brewing Co
    Spencer Trappist

Just a few that come to mind. Hope it helps, a lot of great stuff in your area that flys under the radar.
    Cheers

TreeHouse is brewery only. New England Gandhi Bot goes a long way with trading, one of the top DIPAs. Sea Hag and Imperial Stout Trooper are excellent brews also from them.

Awesome! Im planning a trip to treehouse brewery sometime within the next month or so.

I posted in the trading forums a little while back and i pretty much looked like a fool looking for heady and other high end beers but i guess what i had for trade was nil compared to them and it wasnt worth the trade. So im just looking for other beers that would help me get these ones from other states.

I would add clown shoes to the above list

Only issue is that clown shoes is in 30 states so the normal beers dont fetch alot but the one offs do.

MA doesn't get nebco stuff... its ct only and imperial stout trooper is one a year call around for it to find it. Ghandi bot is slightly more attainable but still call around for it when it comes every couple months.

Pretty Things is MA only and they make great beers.

Not MA/RI but if you find yourself in Portland, ME area. The Substance is worthy of any top IPA in trade IMO.

Jack Abbey stuff right off the bat, they make great beers and are not too pricy. reading a few posts it sounds like BCBS is sitting on shelves in some areas, always tradable. Treehouse too, I thought Julius was tremendous really enjoyed that.

I apologize about that. Got nebco from a couple different people in Mass in the past so i thought it was easily available.

Treehouse and Trillium are your best bets. Somebody might want Night Shift. Don't assume Jack's Abby Framinghammer has much trade value, unless you have the brewery only barrel aged Framinghammers (Cocoa-Nut and PB&J this year). The regular barrel aged Framinghammer might trade, and Vanilla or Coffee too, but for similar shelf beer. But people will trade locals for JA Hoponious Union and Mass Rising I imagine. @nc41 makes a good point on BCBS, it is tradeable and is sitting on shelves, as is the Barleywine (which I think is better). Best bet for those is not shops frequented by BAs. Since it gets AB distro, it lands in small shops with little craft beer presence. Wormtown is another option, with Be Hoppy and fresh Hopulence or Be Hoppier (check dates). Clown Shoes rarer beers only, Billionaire, Ride the Lion maybe. Millionario is sitting on shelves at my local shop. If you find Ghandi-Bot....drink it. Oh, and Maine Brewing beers might trade for similar shelf beers.

Thanks for the advice! Ive learned treehouse if brewery only, so until i can make time for 2 hour drive that will have to wait. What about trillium? is that brewery only too? ive never seen any of their stuff at stores.

Im taking a trip to jacks abby wednesday to get some of their framinhammers for myself and some extras for trading. Ive only seen the BA framinhammer once and it was the last one at a local shop. Im still on the hunt for some MBC lunch and a tiny beautiful something. The others i can get quite often.

It was until late 2012/early 2013... They just don't have enough production and scaled out of mass and florida.

First moved to Fl. In 2011 a local shop had Sea Hag. 8.5% in cans. I was in heaven. Then it disappeared. That explains it.

You could always go the quantity route as well. Would likely be more expensive for you but might give you access to "rarer" beers. People aren't likely to trade something of value straight up for, say, a Jacks Abby Framinghammer variant, but if you assembled a "set" of the different variants you could probably get something decent in return.

Or you could just drink them all...as they are absolutely fantastic!
