Two breweries... Peter B's in downtown Monterey and English Ales in Marina Two beer bars... Cannery Row Brewing Company in Monterey and Post No Bills in Sand City Two restaurants... Trailside Cafe in Monterey and Toast in Carmel Valley
Check out English Ales. They brew on site, and have a large selection of fresh, traditional english Ales. Technically it's in "Mariana" but it's a short scenic drive from Montery proper. My favorites were their Black Prince Porter & Monk's brown ale personally. I also second Cannery Row, both the bar/pub & the area.
Mos' def Peter B's over English Ales by a large, large margin. Really not worth going out of your way for
Interesting. I was just passing through myself when I visited Monterey, & didn't make it to Peter B's, & have only been to EA once, so I can't make a comparison. However, just out curiosity, your own review for Peter B's is a 2.6 & English Ales you gave a 3.2 ? English Ales overall score is a 90, were as Peter B's is a 82, for what it's worth. Makes no difference to me personally, but If your local & advocating one over the other, perhaps suggest adjusting your review score since you seem to feel the opposite of your review scores based on your statement above. I didn't see a review for either from Aptosbeerdrinker, but if you added a review for both, perhaps the scores will re-adjust for both too? I only bring this up since if someone didn't create a thread like this, but used places alone as a guide, they would think English Ales was better then the other based on the scores, I mean I did, since I disregarded Peter B's on my visit based on that research. Cheers.
