Recently moved to Middlebury and am looking for some great beer stores. More interested in quality than quantity. Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

    Run away....

Seriously though mountainview in Naugatuck is ok.

Stew Leonard's and fairway in danbury are ok.

I was moderately impressed with southington wines and spirits I think on queen st in southington.

After that 40-45 to DeCiccos in brewster is the way to go

Check out pies and pints. Worth the beer selection

Willowbrook in Cromwell is my go to stop, great selection for a small place.
Amity spirits in New Haven has the best belgian/import selection.
Manchester Wine & Liquor in Manchester is large and has great overall selection.
Harvest in West Hartford, small place but real good variety of harder to get beers, but they don't price stuff usually and always charge more than other retailers so watch out.

All these places will get limited/reserve as well, just ask if anything good came in.

    Cheers

funny I was just reading a different thread about whether or not you give up info like this.
fortunately no one has offered up my go to shop. lol.

middletown is tough. sure you have eli cannon's for a beer bar but what about beer stores? there's CT Beverage on the Berlin tpke.
mountainview used to be bomb. not any more.

For your area you're also pretty close to Peekskill Brewery over the state line. Definitely recommend that spot, train station is like 100yrds walking distance if you need it. Also check out a couple of the bottle shops near the brewery since NY gets better distro than CT imo..

More than just your opinion, it's a fact! I live on the CT/NY border and am amazed at the variety I get in NY as opposed to CT!

What can you get in NY that you can't get in CT? A year or so ago I would have agreed. Today NY and CT are pretty much the same IMO

I have but I guess my point is now that we get Ithaca, MBC, FW and Six Point there really isn't anything I am driving to DeCiccos .for anymore. Oh and we have G-Bot which I don't think NY has..

Yeah but DeCiccos now gets Cigar City, Jacks Abby, Crooked Stave, and many others. And their stock in Brewster tends to be fresher than stock I find in CT. G-Bot cans are hit or miss in the greater Middlebury area. I tend to go to the brewery to get a growler or two of G-Bot when the craving hits.

CL pulled out of CT? that's news to me don't think so. FW.. My bad you're right I get my Double Jack etc. in Westchester. How are CL sours? I have some Duchesse De Bourgogne in my fridge now that I really love and still have a couple bottles from Russian River I brought back in my luggage from a trip to Cali.

I feel like I've been hearing this since I moved to CT 1.5 years ago. I'll believe it when I see it.
