So whats everyone looking forward to? Ive finally got my act together (sort of) and will be around for the first weekend. Havent booked any ticketed events but will be happy to be around the place and checking some things out.
Will be down for GABS (Friday afternoon session) then a weekend around the bars in Melbourne with the Canberra Brewers.
I'm planning on doing a crawl too. Thinking starting north in the Fitzroys hotels, then through the city, and finishing off at the European beers at The Village.
Well, my GBW(end) starts tomorrow. Will be around the city mostly but tramming it to some of the better pubs. Keen to check out Moon Dog, Great Northern, Gertrude, The Royston, and... late update but fell in love with the catfish whilst over for gabs. great craft selection down stairs and the yeastie boys tap takeover upstairs was insane, pints of 12% hallertau hopocalypse IIIPA after two gabs sessions yes please!!!! sampled a crazy amount of beers in 5 days (approx. 160 including festival brews), favourites were: GABS festival brews, Panhead Black Sabbath - oak aged rye back barleywine, really hope this makes bottles Kaiju Where Strides... - Imperial BIPA that continues the Kaiju quality Golden Eagle Wild Wood - usually not a fan of pilsners but this oaked citra-savin pilsner was fkn sensational (I was lucky enough to try the stout by these guys a few months ago and I highly recommend that too) Hopdog Beerworks Brett the Bloody Orange - great flavours in this one Bright Brewey Battle of the Bulge - clearly the best hoppy beer there other breweries with impressive drops were 2 brothers, thirsty crow, brewcult, evil twin, riverside, mikkeller, red hill, Stillwater, magic rock, doctors orders non festival brews, Doctors Orders Iron Lung Elixir - an imperial version of their black pils that is heavily hopped and aged in bourbon barrels, at 11% this was insane Prickly Moses Sour Coffee Stout Yeastie Boys Spoonbender series Hallertau Hopocalypse IIIPA Epic Carolina Bacchus Apple Pie - Rogue should take note on how to do a dessert beer
