Good Beer Week ...

Went to GABS yesterday and don't really have too many more plans for the rest of the week. Might head to the Royston/Goat but haven't decided as yet. Didn't really want to commit to the paid events given I wasn't sure how work would be going so I might just check out some of the showcases or grab a burger and beer one night.

strange that its so quiet on BA about it while the twitter community has been very vocal. well, maybe not as vocal as last year but certainly more things being talked about and organised there. might just suit the format better.

 

Hit GABS' opening session Friday. Gonna try to get to Goat, Great Northern, Royston, and Little Creatures throughout the week, as well as the Good Beer Scavenger Hunt Thursday.

I worked the Brooklyn dinner and Sierra Nevada tap launch at Beer Deluxe as well. Both were great experiences.

 

Anyone know what the GABS taplist is for the Sydney Taphouse?

hmmm, no but I see they are now down to 18 taps, not 20. methinks they are in some troubled times, tho I do hope not terminal strife

 

Although they normally have around 18 beers on and the 20 is made up with cider...the 18 that are there are all beers.

 

looks like a web-site glitch my end - now back up to 20 on the list...

 

Yeah, I got a huge response.

 

I'm thinking they've pulled it.

They've quietly removed it from their website, and are being silent on their blog and other social media.

All of which is wholly consistent with their communications strategy.

 

Yeah there's not many Victorians who post on here anymore.

 

apparently they are doing a Tap Takeover of all the Redorkerlig flavours and will give a free jug to whoever wins @ Bocce

 

I just drove past the Taphouse and saw a sign with "Best of GABS"...so assuming its still on tomorrow

 

yes - they are oh so quiet..... an example the American Tap Takeover. Nix on the blog beforehand, and if I recall the tap list was not even updated for the Saturday. Only found out that it actually happened (thought it was canned) by the pix on the blog about a week after.

really don;t understand their difference in advertising between Melb and Syd. Ah well.

 

I dropped in for a beer on the way back through and asked the barman...he wasn't sure when it was on, but told me the posters for it were up and to check that out on the wall outside...anyway, its Saturday June 2nd for Best of GABS in Sydney

 

I like that. Mr K: 'Excuse me barkeep, when is your beer showcase on? I would very much like to come inside your establishment and experience it.' Barkeep: 'I don't know, go outside and look at the wall.'

Cue Mr K staring a wall for 10min.

 

Without wanting to be mean, it is more like "Best of whatever the hell we have left".

 

Moylan's Imperial IPA on tap today at Beer Deluxe was great.
