I'm going to be in NYC for a day on sat. 11/16/13. I was wondering if there are any not to miss beers in the city that I should look for?
That's a very tough question to ask. Depends on what kind of beers you like, what neighborhood you'll be in, how far/long you're willing to travel, etc. If there are specific beers that you know you'd like to try, you could search for them on beermenus.com. Many places update regularly. If there are specific breweries you want to try that don't distribute to Ohio, you could check out seekabrew.com.
Ok, thanks. I just thought if there was something in the city that was really good I'd try to get to it. I realize it's a big place and I don't have much time but hey, us country boys are willing to try!! Lol
If you can get out to Brooklyn check out Tørst, it's one hell of a beer bar and I am sure you can find something on tap that will blow your mind. If you are sticking to Manhattan I would suggest the Gingerman or Blind Tiger, the prior is less crowded and has more taps and the latter is small and crowded but usually has some great stuff on tap. Also, you should be able to find some BCS around town if you do your homework before heading out there. Cheers!
You certainly do not want to miss out a splendid collection of Kuhnhenn beers which are currently being poured at Tørst. NYC is the only place other than the brewpub where you can see such an eclectic Kuhnhenn collection in one place.
It is $14 (eisbock) depending on a beer and believe me I'm on the same as everyone else as far as $$$ is concerned. If you're still into Kunhenn I'd recommend checking out out Beer Authority for a slight more reasonable Kuhnhenn prices around town. That includes Eisbock as well.
I was referring to Extraneous if beermenus is accurate. A bar in Westchester also has ten Kuhnhenns on and Extraneous at $7 for 7oz (which is a huge difference). I'm not trying to knock Torst (even though I find the love for them a bit odd). I had a beer in midtown today and felt ripped off. High prices are a norm in these parts.
