I am heading down to southern Indiana at the end of the month and was wondering if there are any good beers I should look out for down there?

Nope, not that I know of at least. Swing by Indy if you're coming from the North and stop at Flat 12, great brews.

There's Upland Brewery in Bloomington, but there's not a whole lot south of the state from what I remember. (went to IU-Bloomington). Best bet is to pass through Indy and surrounding burbs. You could always hit up Scotty's Brewhouse in B-town though. Good food and above-average beer for a college town.

Not much in that area that I know of. Not sure how far out of your way it is, but there are a few quality destinations closer to Louisville.

Jasper has a relatively new brewery called Basket Case. I know absolutely nothing about it, other than that it exists.

I actually grew up near Tell City, and I've looked for beer when I go home for holidays/etc. Place is a wasteland, man.

I'd highly recommend Basket Case. We went there last time we visited the folks. It's a small brewery inside a restaurant called Mill House. So far I like their business plan and enjoyed the brews I've tried.

Nothing at all near Tell City area. Which direction are you coming from?

    No. Just.....No.

Depending on your direction of travel stopping in Indy or Louisville/New Albany are your best bets.

I am going to try this out for sure. I like new breweries that not many people know about that way when the beer is good and takes off I can say I had that when they had three beers on tap and thats it.

Fixed. Seriously though love their food. Always fantastic. Beer is coming along as well. Much better than it was 2 years ago.

Their food is amazing. Especially the pulled pork nachos. Beer is average. I think a lot their beer tends to be thin and under carobonated, which could be attributed to QC issues.

Go over to New Albanian, in New Albany, near Louisville.

If you are in Jasper, check out the Schnitzelbank German restaurant. Decent tap list, great food: http://www.schnitzelbank.com/. There is not a ton of great beer in the area you are visiting, but that is a must stop for me every time I'm in the Jasper area.
