But I expect most hoppy IPAs / hoppy Ambers to fall off in three months. we all should know that by now.
I won't buy an IPA that is more than a month and a half old. It can sit there for all I care.

Pliny falls off terribly in a matter of weeks. Try one super fresh - within a week - then try one in 2 weeks... A totally different beer.

Flower Power, especially when it doesn't have a born on date, only a best by, so it was hard to know when fresh. Not sure if they still do it that way- haven't had it in a while.

Drink it immediately ? Any IPA or Dipa. Any pepper stout, they all, drink better fresh.

I hate "best by" or "enjoy by" dates!!!!!! they are idiotic. Let me decide.

My daughter in law bought a six for my son this week, it was dated on the neck. Two weeks old. She shot me a pic looked like a year, month bottled date . Like 150515.

I've had beer that I didn't think I liked but revisited them and realized I had drank old bottles. The ones that stand out are torpedo, shiva and two hearted.

12.3 days? I can believe you'd even buy it after 7 days old. I leave that fodder for the plebian BMC scum.

I can't believe that this thread went 49 posts before Hopslam's name came up!! :astonished: Out of season, out of mind, or just unfairly criticized?

For me, Torpedo is still good with 2 or 3 months on it, but it takes on more of the herbal character and the juicy goodness that is in a fresh Torpedo is MIA.

I may need to try "fresh" CA Torpedo….it seems to be super piney/herbal over here

I never understood why everyone loved Sculpin. The bottles I would get in Florida would taste pretty bad. Then, on a trip to California I tried it on tap. Fantastic! Never drink this beer if it's not fresh! Same goes for Sucks, Zombie Dust and Jai Alai but not to the same extent. Fortunately, CCB dates the bottom of their Jai Alai cans and I usually can get it within 2 weeks of canning.

Just my opinion. Try it some time. The herd mentality only takes you so far in life.

So does having a ridiculously different opinion in a sad effort to be "cool".

I'll have to second zombie dust. Within two weeks it's excellent, but once it hits 3 weeks it tastes pretty faded

Chillwave. Last time I bought a 4 pack, I didn't look at the date. It was still good, but nowhere near its prime.
