Had a good brew day. Under 4 hours with a 90 minute boil. I got a new 0-30 psi adjustable regulator which kicked ass and really shortened the heating time. Also made a 20 ft pre chiller to go along with a 50 ft counterflow. Chilled a little to well as my wort got down to 43 in 6 minutes.
Great, I made a Russian Imperial Stout today and finished in less time than I anticipated. I've gotten better at predicting efficiency so I collected all my sugar with running off less wort than my recipe called for. I also use a CFC and i try and get all my brewing done while the groundwater is cold enough. In the dead of winter I can chill to 47F
I think I got the last tap water chilled brew yesterday before it gets too warm (and stays that way for about 8 months, lol). I've got the pre-chiller about half built (the copper if formed, at least) and just need to get fittings and finalize the design.
To save money, I went to Lowes and picked up a fitting used to repair hoses which have hose fittings on one end and a barb on the other. I then just used some tubing and worm drive clamps to connect the copper and the hose fittings. Cost about 5 bucks compared to messing with compression fittings.
