I actually like the SIZE of the format, but not so much the price.

I love the 22oz format. My wife and I split like 90% of the beer we drink, and that size ( or 750 ml bottles) = pretty much perfect for splitting.

They had to call it something besides a big beer bottle. I guarantee there is someone on here that can tell you the exact origin of the name.

I'll buy a bomber / 750 / 500 / 375 (essentially any single bottle) every now and then, but lately I've been buying 12, 6 and 4-packs much more regularly. It's just more economical for me. Obviously some beer only comes in single-bottle format and I'm definitely choosier with the ones I do buy. Mostly I buy single bottles for my cellar or if there's something particular I want to try

I try not to buy bombers but unfortunately, a lot of the beers I drink are only available in bombers !!!:grimacing:

I've got a lot of bombers sitting waiting for the "right moment". That's means either time to drink it all by myself or someone worthy to share it with. All great beers too, what a shame.

    For my budget, I wouldn't call $14 per six-pack a steal. :-)

During the Great War, resources became scarce for building munitions. So, they repurposed some established brewer's bottling plants and filled the glass bottles with steel marbles and gunpowder. The larger bottles were better suited because of the level of destructive force. It was during this fateful period in U.S. history that the term 'bomber' was coined.

I've never heard anything like that but I'll definitely take your word for it. I knew someone would know. Cheers!

Don't take my word for it, its 100% bullshit. Sorry.

Don't love the bomber format/pricing but can't believe the Hermetus bottle opener ($10) hasn't been mentioned yet. I bought it last week and tested on a Stone Old Guardian over the weekend; second half of the bomber tasted nearly identical to me the next day.

Bombers aren't going anywhere anytime soon. That's the truth.

Why'd you say that? You could have told me anything and I would have been happy. Now I feel bad.

I'm in the high 80-90s percent is bombers that I purchase. Perfect size for me. I don't think I've drank a six pack of anything in years.
