Only get bombers when it's the only way I can try something. But rather get a 4 or six pack. Seems like everything is converting to six packs now though

I am not done either completely. In fact I
was at the beer store today and saw some
bombers at a good price and quality beer.

Quality choices. I'd like to add Bear Republic to the list.

I will buy a bomber if it's something I haven't had before and I want to sample it before buying a larger quantity.

Dragons Milk bourbon barrel stout at my local grocery store in 12 oz. bottle 4 packs for $15.99. I prefer to have this beer in 12 oz. portions.

I have no reason to believe this is true, but I've always kind of thought it was because of planes. Bombers are the big ones. Silly, probably, but that is what I think.

I buy lots of bombers because most of the best beer is only available in that format. I know it is more expensive, but if saving money was my motivation I would drink BMC.

Bombers are a great buy at $3.00. Above that I say goodbye. Not many good buys at $3.00 a bomber. Though it pays to shop around.

I love bombers, but more love for the 750mls. Easily shared with another.

    Cheers!

I may be in the minority but I like bombers. They allow you to have two full glasses of a beer and to determine whether you like it. I get really upset when I purchase a 4 or 6-pack of a new beer and don't like it. I feel like it's a waste. What would be great would be if you could purchase a bomber and then, if you like it, purchase a 6-pack!

I'm with this guy. Some of the small breweries just starting out use bombers exclusively, and later move their best selling bombers to four or six packs. I've had bombers that leave me jonesing a year for the next release, and I've had bombers that are drain pours. I've never regretted those drain pours because I tried something new and unique, and I only wasted 11oz of beer. If you want to disparage bombers from an economics standpoint that's fine, but I prefer to follow taste over "value" in my craft beer quest.

Bombers are perfect for me. I usually drink alone and it's just the right amount. Also if I share a bomber it's exactly two glasses. I never even thought about complaining about it.

They're nice for shares and for looking good, and it so happens that some of the better beers come in them. But that's ok, 6 packs need love too. And I do love a good 6 pack.

As a home brewer I love bottling with them, but agree not to keen on buying them. If you price it out, even 6 packs at $10 are a better deal.

Most don't dare to price out a bomber. But in this example, a $10 sixer (still seemingly expensive around here) equates to a $3 bomber.

Ballast Point gets blasted for its $15/sixer sculpins. Yet that equates to a $4.50/bomber.

    A $9 bomber equates to a $29.50/six pack.

This format SUCKS for the consumer. Most breweries do it because they can. It's an easy money maker when consumers feel they are paying less, for what equates to MUCH less beer. You see it at grocery stores, costco, or sams club too. The vast majority don't have the math sense when it comes to luxury goods.

I guess it all boils down for some, DO you spend $15 on a sixer that mightly possibly suck (would they drain pour the rest, or suck it up?). Or experiment with a $7 bomber, feeling they are saving $8 by not buying the bigger format. And come out on top?

I can sorta see why GI did what they did with their format change for BCBSs.

    ------
Just last week I saw some enjoy by 10.31.15 in bomber form for $9. Sixers were around $17. Obviously sixers would be the way to go for value. I also noticed the sixers sold in singles for $3.5. I bought two singles for $7, and ended up with MORE beer than the bomber being sold for $2 more. But the bombers were selling the fastest. Mind blown at how stupid us consumers can be.

I buy bombers when all I want is a couple beers. I like the format. especially at under $4.00. Hello SNPA and Ten Barrel anything. Plus it is a good way to test out beers from a brewery I have never heard of before.

All the world's Wine is going to nothing but boxes, I'm tellin ya.

    (this post's equivalent).

bombers, while not economical in most cases, are not going anywhere.

Why would that be? Compared to sixpacks - Fewer crowns and less glass for the same volume of beer, and elimination of the secondary packaging of the decorated, paperboard sixpack "basket" by being packaged "loose" in the corrugated shipper case.
