I try not to buy them, but this time of year is for big stouts, barley wines, & barrel aged goodies and those all tend to be sold as bombers. Once spring arrives, bye bye bombers...

I believe the price was $15.00. Which was $15.00 too much. I still have one unopened bottle left.

I like bombers just fine, I split almost every beer I buy with my wife and it's a great amount.
I very rarely buy six packs, I usually just want variety. Guess I'm in the minority.

I am not really a fan of bombers but as others have said most of my favorite beers only come in bombers.

Here in New Hampshire the local craft beer scene is expanding and nearly all of those 2,000 barrels-per-year nano-breweries bottle their beer in bombers or growlers only. So my choice is a 22 oz bomber or a 64 oz growler.

You are probably right. In 1972 we looked at one-way bottles vs returnables and returnables won hands down. Studies since have looked at one-ways vs cans and cans win. In Returnables vs can returnables win but I don't know if any of the studies have looked at packaging and what impact that has. If they have, I don't know how accurate their numbers are on how much of the packaging is actually recycled. In terms of transportation costs, cans win hands down because you can get more onto a tuck.

You know what I hate more? The price point of 500mL bottles. $15 for a pint of beer? You have got to be kidding me. Thanks Wicked Weed and Goose Island. :astonished:

The problem is most of these boutique beers in 22oz format are just downright mediocre. I prefer to buy a single 12 ounce if it's something I've never tasted. Even if the cost per ounce is more with a single bottle in any size, I prefer to have a smaller sample size before I commit to something as large as a 22oz beer.

I do like pint bottles...I'm happy paying 5-6$ a pint knowing that I'm not risking a poorly maintained draught system flavor.

I buy 'em every so often. They're handy. For example, I like to ride my bicycle quite a bit. Sometimes in the city, sometimes out in the sticks. Eventually I'll come to a store, go inside and check out the beer. Then I will get a bomber to go. Get back on the bike and seek out a place to take a break. Maybe a lake or a river. Or, if its raining (Seattle area) an old abandoned barn or stall. Or maybe under a bridge or a picnic shelter in some park. Then I'll drink that sucker straight from the bottle. Along with a hunk of cheese or trail mix, maybe a hardboiled egg, ya know?
    Life is good.
    Beer is great.
    Enjoy!

There is too much awesome beer in other formats for me to even consider anything in a bomber unless its something really rare and/or exceptional. And in that case its probably out of my price range anyway.

If it's the only format I can get a really good beer, then count me in. What's the problem?

Does Stone sell Arrogant Bastard in sixers (not Oaked)? I have see 12 oz bottles of AB in a mixed 12 pack that retails for for $21. If they make 12 ox bottles, why not sell sixers?

I used to be a huge bomber fan, back when I was getting to learn beer. Yes, the price per oz was higher, but if I was not the biggest fan of the beer, at least I did not pick up a 4/6 pack of the beer.

Nowadays, I know enough about beer that bombers are not my go-to. The higher price now has an effect on my purchasing habits. I never buy bombers of a style that could easily be found in 4/6 packs. My general bomber purchases are sours/barrel-aged/experimental beers.

I wish more bombers became 4 packs.

Considering almost all limited releases and seasonals from small breweries come in 22oz bombers, they are pretty unavoidable.

That's an interesting question. I too have gotten those mixed half-racks a couple times, and really enjoyed getting those Arrogant Bastards in 12 oz. I hadn't thought about the fact you never see 'em in 6 packs. Are they available in some areas and not others? (Because, you see, now I really want a sixer of it!)
