Malts. Anything malty. RIS, porters, browns, black IPAs. And only in the dead of winter, during the most brutal, miserable cold, a nice rauchbier really hits the spot.

Drinking Odell's Isolation winter ale now. Hitting the spot. Prairie Christmas Bomb was great when temps were sub zero the other day.

Like most, I stick to stouts, barleywines, and other high gravity beers during the winter months.

Recently had golden roads ginger bread stout. it doesn't hide it's alcohol well at 8.5% but with the spices it's a great warmer upper.

I'm one of those people who doesn't care much about what season it is in relation to what I'm drinking. I see the appeal of drinking something light and refreshing on a hot day, but I don't really consider anything different when it's cold out. I'm not gonna be outside drinking anyway so it seems irrelevant to me. If it helps breweries market beer, good on them.

I'll pass on saisons and some IPAs- everything is still fair game.

Stouts and porters are great in the cold, especially the coffee ones. I also can't wait to break into some nearly 1yr old Bigfoot. I still drink everything I usually do though, lots of pale Belgians/saisons/ipas, it doesn't get that cold here in California.

Yes, it's strange in these days of central heating , despite being more or less unaffected by the weather, we tend to plump for the darker beers!

I like almost any kind of porter when it starts to get chilly. Currently, Im enjoying Thirsty Dog Old Leghumper and Lenenkugel's Snowdrift isnt bad either. Im just starting to get into stouts and havent really tried many yet, so Im not sure my experience is enough to say what a good and not so good stout is.
