    What brewery was it?

I'm sure they won't mind the positive review.

Thank you both for the kind words. We truly take all of our customer feedback to heart on a daily basis, and where and when applicable have utilized it to make several tweaks to things over the years.

Without our customers we are nothing and we can't thank you all enough for supporting us and our beer.

    Cheers!

I bought a sixer of Hinterland packerland pilsner. My wife cracked one open it, and it was obviously infected. The foam never stopped gushing and it was incredibly tart. We ended up emailing them with bottling and purchase info and they sent a replacement sixer in the mail. The emails we got back were directly from the owner and he apologized and made it right. It's odd that an experience with a beer that's infected has made me actually want to support their business more considering the way they handled it.

I was at The Hermosillo in Highland Park with a few friends recently. They share the building with Highland Park Brewing...a very small local brewery where they have HPB bottles to go and the some on tap. Since we were there to pick up bottles that they didn't have on tap, I asked if we could get one opened to try while we were there. The bartender explained that he couldn't legally open a bottle there, something about only selling bottles to go. Anyway, he was nice enough about it so we ordered something else to drink. Well, a couple of minutes later he returns with the bottle we requested saying something about bumping the cap on the counter and not being able to sell it...and he pops it and pours a few glasses for us to enjoy...comp!! Thats customer service....

...oh, and the beer was great!

Not customer service, but DFH has always been great to the community around it. Our mountain biking club always gets a keg or 2 donation for our fund raising activities.

despite some society members who like to complain about every single little thing, Bruery has excellent customer service. they have always made good on any mistakes and have always, in my experience, gone out of their way to listen to feedback and make their customers happy

The only real issue I ever contacted a brewery about was Clipper City. I purchased a case of Heavy Seas Loose Cannon, and when I opened the case the "best by" date was at least 6 months in the past. I contacted them, informed them of the distributor and they sent a replacement case out within a few days. Awesome job by them.

One other one worth mentioning. I had a Tired Hands growler I bought that was flat within 12 hours. Contacted Jean and he offered a replacement when I came in. Him and his employees there rock hard.

I had a case of Sly Fox Pikeland Pils and about half were infected (sour, crazy foaming), so I called the brewery to let them know, mostly so they could figure out what happened. I drink a lot of Sly Fox, so I figured they should know something went bad. Got a huge box of goodies in the mail out of it without expecting anything more than a "thanks." I WILL BUY SLY FOX BEER FOREVER.

I posted this reply in the other thread, but seems to fit here even better.

    - Regarding Port Brewing/Lost Abbey.

I also had world class treatment from those guys. I sent them an email a few years ago inquiring why I could never find their beer (Mongo specifically) fresh in my market. They responded immediately, gave the predictable answers about distribution and freshness, etc, and asked where they could send me a beer. This was a on a Friday afternoon. On Saturday morning I received a FedEX with a week-old Mongo and a pint glass - FedEx slip was signed by Thomme Arthur, no less. No matter the issues I have sometimes with their freshness or availability, they remain my favorite brewery. They were my favorite before that exchange; but that level of customer service ensured they remained as such.

I was in Indianapolis on business and bought two 6-packs of Flat12 IPA at a bottle shop. Back in Ohio, the first bottle I opened was flat and a later bottle was over-carbonated (the rest were fine). Wasn't concerned about the cost but dropped them a line through their website to let them know about a potential quality issue.

Someone from the brewery got back to me later that night and apologized, saying they'd had some issues with a batch, and offering to replace my beer. I said not to worry, that I was in a state they didn't sell in and didn't expect to get back to Indianapolis anytime soon, but just wanted him to be aware of the quality issues. He said to let him know if I made it back to Indy.

Unexpectedly I had to make another trip there a month later, so I let him know. He gave me a name to ask for at the taproom and said they would take care of me. I had a co-worker along on this trip and we both went to the taproom together.

They took care of me the entire evening. We each had 3 or 4 beers and they wouldn't let me pay for any. I told them they didn't need to do that, that there were only two bad beers, but they insisted. As we were leaving I thanked them for their hospitality, and they reached into the cooler and grabbed two more 6-packs and handed them to me. I refused - said I wasn't even in their distribution footprint so not likely to be a customer anytime soon, but they insisted.

I hope they do get to Ohio. Really liked their beers and would be happy to buy more.

Well most may find this really hard to believe but about 5 years ago I emailed Alpine asking for the malt bill of their O'Brien's IPA so I could attempt a clone and I got an email back surprisingly quick with the details. Don't know for sure if it was Pat who wrote it, but his signature was at the bottom.

I've encountered other breweries (Evolution, though I do like them), who never gave me a response just on very general recipe questions, not even a "we prefer not to divulge the details of our recipes, sorry, thanks for being interested in our beer."

    Hey hey BA,

Pliny theYounger release 2013. I'm the driver, so two's my limit. My boy has 5. We head out and our server chases us down with my buddy's cell for two blocks. Gives the phone back. Fast forward to 2015. Myself and same buddy forget our purchased clothing. 2 shirts & 2 tiny Pliny shirts & one fir my wife. Thinking I'm screwed, I throw up a Hail Mary and leave a voicemail for management. Not expecting a response, not only do they send me what I missed, but a couple Plinys to boot!! No questions asked. Here's to understanding who pays your bills and spreads the message and goes out of your way to appreciate your fans!!!

In the pub last week my wife knocked over a full glass. The server came over, cleared up the mess and asked her what the drink was.Next thing a replacement drink arrived , the server refused payment saying "these things do happen"
By the way, we don't tip servers over here.Just get excellent and prompt service as standard.

Do the servers in the UK get full wages? Vs below minimum in many cases in the US where their tips are added to make up the difference...

Yes. casual workers get at least the minimum legal wage which is around $10 an hour. There should be a supplement for working antisocial hours. Up to $225 a week earnings ,health and unemployment insurance are treated as having been paid ; over that they pay 12% on the excess.
Regular staff will have their own wage structure which is usually an attractive package.
