Headed up from Houston for Cotton Bowl tomorrow, what are some good places with a good tap selection around DFW?
Nice, thanks Probably head out for something laid back Thursday, and some place to celebrate an Aggie victory Friday night
I much prefer Common Table to Strangeways... but it's just because I have received awful service every time I've gone to Strangeways... their selection has never been in question, though. Also depends on where you will be staying... DFW is a big area. Also, there will be no Aggie victory... Boomer =P
Actually we'll be staying in Grapevine, likely going anywhere In town Thursday. Friday may be more towards Jerryworld or back toward GV
I work in Grapevine, and I can tell you that unfortunately there aren't really any beer-centric places in the immediate area. If you take 114 towards Dallas it will spit you onto 35 (about a 15-20 min drive), from there it is pretty easy to access quite a few places within relatively close proximity of each other (Meddlesome Moth, Common Table, Gingerman, etc). Strangeways and Trinity Hall would take a little longer given that they're over off of 75. Good luck to your team... I'm going to the game, and regardless of the outcome, I look forward to tailgating with some Aggies again. Cheers.
The Ginger Man next to Southlake Town Square is your best option nearby. It has nearly 100 beers on tap.
I haven't hit that many, but it's always nice to visit Corey up at Common Table if you are in Dallas.
Completely forgot that just opened up... good call. There's also a Mellow Mushroom over that direction, although I haven't been there, and so can't speak to whether their beer selection is as solid as some of the other MMs I have been to.
I met one of the managers at Mellow Mushroom. He spun a good yarn about getting the newest and best stuff that is in the market. Have not been there yet though as I avoided that area during the holidays. For the OP, if you are looking for a dive bar to hang out at for a little while in Grapevine then definitely try Peace Burger Dive Bar. Good, inexpensive food and drinks. They have close to 20 taps and have a decent selection that changes. Last week they had Devils Backbone, DE IPA, 512 PP, Peticolas Royal Scandal, NB 1554, Breckenridge Agave Wheat, NB Snow Day and a couple others that I can't remember. Plenty of big screens with games galore. They once had Oaked Arrogant Bastard on tap for $5.50 for a 23oz.
