If it comes out again, try Boulevard Hibiscus Gose it's one of the few sours that I didn't spit out

Also, try dry hopped sours like Almanac's or New Belgium Le Terroir.

The DESTIHL Wild Sour Series offers several light, low ABV sours in various styles including Flanders Red, Berliner Weisse, and Gose. Ommegang's Rosetta is a very tasty Flanders Oud Bruin that is aged on cherries. I'd recommend any of these.

I personally love Dfh festina peche, the new glarus fruits, and any Saison. I don't have a ton of experience with sours and would love some recommendations based on my likes as well.

First off, maybe try a gose like Otra Vez from Sierra Nevada or the Kimmie from Anderson Valley. Those are approachable. Rodenbach Grand Cru is well available and accessible in the Belgian vein.

These are all obtainable in NY.

Ommegang Rosetta, or Anderson Valley Blood Orange Gose.
I especially like Off-Color Apex Predator. That's not a "sour" per se, it's a farmhouse ale, with lactobaccilus, but it is tart, and has some other stuff going on.

Lindemans Framboise, Kriek, or Peche is as gateway as you're going to get. Or go for Bell's Oarsman's Ale for a Berliner Weisse. It's fresh refreshing and only lightly sour.

Almanac "hoppy sours" did it for me! The azacca version is quite nice IMO

Something like Jolly Pumpkin Bam Biere or Luciernaga might be a good choice. They're not overly sour, and have a lot of other flavors going on as well.

Upland's public sale is going on now. The lambics might be a good place to start. This time around they have a cherry and Blackberry. You might need help from someone in Indiana to get them. It is very rare to see them go to distro.

Rivertown Nice Melons. Really, any fruited Berliner or Gose is a potential intro to sours.

Dry hopped sours and most beers from Jolly Pumpkin were my gateway to Sours

Lost Nation Gose is pretty tasty, and easy drinking. Not too tart. Anderson Valley Blood Orange, or The Kimmie...
Otra Vez is probably as approachable as you can get, and widely available.

So I'm largely ignorant to sours- Gose falls under that umbrella?

new Belgium la folie may be a good start. maybe councils beatitudes

if you don't like sour patch kids candy, then sours probably aren't for you

lost abbeys framboise and red poppy too

I would consider them in that umbrella. Many are quite sour, like the Westbrook Gose. Many are less sour than the sour American Wild Ales like RR Beatification, etc. They would work great as an introduction to sours and many are currently now widely available.

Oh ok. I agree with your sentiments with my limited experience. Westbrook was the first gose I tried and it was too aggressive, while Otra Vez was quite enjoyable to me.

Try to find some of the Anderson Valley options, Blood Orange is pretty tame. Lost Nation Gose should be around NY a bit, or easy to get if your near VT.
