I want to try out some Milk/sweet stouts, but they're a bit hard to find. What are some good ones that aren't that hard to come by? I'm thinking Sam Adams Cream Stout to start but my local specialty store doesn't have them in stock.

Left Hand's Nitro Milk Stout is a great one IMO. I've been looking to try Souther Tier's 2X stout but havent gottena round to it yet

Probably Left Hand Milk Stout. I'm sure someone with more knowledge of the beers in SD can chime in with more.

Keegan Mother`s Milk, but I`m guessing the OP does not have access to that in CA.

Left Hand Milk stout as everyone else has said, is a very good option. Be sure to buy the new nitro bottles though, its good regular but great on nitro.

Also duck rabbits milk stout is good.

Funny, I'm drinking a LH Milk Stout right now!

Anyone know of a place that has LHMS NITRO and ships to AZ or ND?

Access via trade... I would suggest Left Hand's Milk [and Nitro version] Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout as well... but if you can't find them, throw out an ISO...Cali has plenty of tradealbles that I'd imagine would work this deal out pretty quickly...

If you can still land a bottle of Surly 4 - that was tasty...

Lefthand sucks IMO...if you get anderson valley where you're at check out Barney Flats. Terrapin's is good as well though a bit more expensive...and I just noticed that someone said you were in California so that's not an option.

For the 12 people who suggested left hand; that's what the 'like' button is for

Isn't Barney Flats an Oatmeal Stout though, not a Milk Stout? Completely forgot about the MooHoo Milk Stout...

If you check the OP's profile, he's in San Diego. Duck-Rabbit doesn't distribute there.

MooHoo is the best one. Duck Rabbit is my 2nd choice. Not sure if you get MooHoo. Unfortunately you don't get DR. Never liked Left Hand's.

I like Left Hand a lot, but they're not available in CA, you'd have to go to AZ. Locally Port Carlsbad has a milk stout called Cow Stout that is pretty darn good. St. Peter's Cream Stout is tasty and should be available in bottles. In the end, it's simply a style that we don't get a lot of. Sam Adams Cream Stout is a nice introduction and really shouldn't be that hard to find, my local BevMo has tons of 'em.

St. Peters Cream Stout and Dragon Stout are both widely available. Just to warn you though, Dragon Stout is extremely sweet. It's cloying to a lot of peoples palates. Royal Extra might be easy to find, depending on where you live.

Youngs Double Chocolate is easy to find as well. It's a sweet stout, but not a milk stout.

These beer have been mentioned before, but here's what I'd go with.
-Southern Tier 2X Stout. I really enjoyed this (And this is coming from a guy who really doesn't care for ST's beers). Extremely well balanced.
-Young's Double Chocolate Stout. I definitely would opt for the bottled version if you can. Imo, the canned version is a kinda watery.
-Left Hand Milk Stout. Nitro version for sure. So thick and flavorful, yet so drinkable. Honestly the regular version is pretty similar to the nitro, but the nitro just adds a smooth mouthfeel that's to die for, without watering down the taste like what happens with some nitro beers.
