Hello all, I am going to be doing a trade with someone in Washington. I was looking for some advice on some good beers to put on my want list. I like all types of beers with the exception of barley wines. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
Pretty much anything from Reuben's or Black Raven. Topcutter is an excellent ipa. Anything from Fremont, though the more limited stuff is better than the everyday stuff. If he can find it, Holy Mountain is truly special but bottles are pretty limited.
What, nobody's said it yet? There's no rare beer in WA, better off trading for Pliny. Seriously though, a lot depends on where in WA your tradee is located. The selections East of the Cascades can be vastly different from the selections available West of the Mountains. Also depends on if you're trading "walez" or just shelf beers. A lot of our breweries only do limited packaging, usually in 22s. A few breweries to think about: Bale Breaker, Black Raven, Fremont, Chuckanut (possibly the best Lager brewery in the country), Sound, Flyers, Reubens, Silver City, Propolis, and Selkirk Abbey. Selkirk Abbey is in Idaho, but their stuff gets over here now, and is excellent. Find out where your trading partner is located, and we can give you better answers.
Most have already been said, but I'll reiterate: Most anything from Bale Breaker, Fremont, Black Raven. Holy Mountain's pretty solid. Cascade (Portland - one of my favorite NW breweries), Hair of the Dog (Portland).
