I'm a new trader but was just in this position with a Black Friday trade, only on the opposite end. I agreed to a pre trade for a Vanilla Rye because I knew there was a GI event where I live. As the hype started to build up I started to get nervous that I wouldn't be able to come through. In the end I got what I needed for the trade, I just had to sit in line for a of couple hours. If I hadn't been able to get the agreed upon beers and had already received my shipment I would've returned the beer and reimbursed any money that was spent in shipping. I see it being all on the person who agreed to get a limited beer, even though it wasn't a sure thing.

The person who couldn't come through on their end is responsible for making things right. I would've contacted the trader and tried to come to an agreement rather than sending beer back plus extras.

I'm a little confused here and if I'm wrong someone let me know... if this guy wanted the beer early so he could have the beer for his vacation, isn't it safe to assume he would have wanted the beer so he could drink the beer on said vacation? And thus not had the beer to ship back to you once his vacation was over? Kind of strange that he still had that beer left... This is odd and I'm not typically a suspicious person... but this actually makes me a little suspicious that the guy actually did just get a better offer afterwards like @TheVicster suggested...

@Ben7773 so enough beating around the bush. I'm not asking for names, but what's the verdict? What happened? Did you ask for reimbursement, let it slide, etc?

    Thanks chief

I assumed he posted and asked for advice as "how to approach this matter" meaning it wasn't over, as in he's thinking about asking for reimbursement based on our replies.

i am going to let it slide and place him on my dnt list. I'm sure he has had an opportunity to review this post and I'm also going to take it as a lesson learned. I'm not out any beers and I've already used the beers to land something pretty nice. I will just wait for the hype to die down before going after prop.

So about $5 worth of beer for you shipping two boxes? That's pretty weak for you shipping two boxes. He owes you the shipping costs and then I'd say let the trade go away on it's own.

So long story short, if you set up a pre-trade: NOBODY SHIPS UNTIL AGREED UPON BEERS ARE IN HAND! I feel like this should be common sense guys

*One exception would be when dealing with regular trade partners

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Why ask someone to ship early if you don't need the beers? You would think he would have drank some of them already per the request to ship early. Does seem weird.
