Per Ballast Point's website, it looks to be a winter seasonal. However, I just had it at the SD Tap Room in Pacific Beach last Thursday, a vintage '12. Not sure if they still have it though.

Porter is an extremely hard style to get right...some of the best on the mass market:
    • Smuttynose Robust Porter
    • Founders Porter
    • Sierra Nevada Porter
    • Deschutes Black Butte Porter
    • Rogue Mocha Porter
    • Ballast Point Victory At Sea
    • Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald
    • Anchor Porter
    • Stone Smoked Porter

Highland Brewing Company, Thunderstruck- its a seasonal but its my favorite porter.

As for a stout, Lagunitas has a killer imperial stout for five bucks.

It may be a little pricey imperial doughnut break from Evil Twin is fuckin awesome.

Anchor Porter hits everything I expect a porter to be.

Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout is truly wonderful.

I won't recommend you beers that are only available in my home state as that would be cruel.

It will be impossible to know for sure until 2039, at the earliest. But, until then, here is to wishful thinking!

Not sure about availability to you, but here are some of my faves:

    Stouts-
    Plead the 5th(BA and reg)
founders Imperial( best non BA stout out there)
    Old Raspy(classic, easy to get)
Stone RIS (priced well, and ages beautifully)
    KBS
Black out stout (BA and reg)
    Expedition( can age forever!)
    Blacknote
Dragons milk ( had one last night, and it is miles above what I remembered, used to hate it)
Great Divide yeti(Not distributed here anymore, but was a good one)

    Porters-
Victory at sea( a bit stout like, but very delicious, just hard to call a porter)
    Edmond Fitzgerald
    Smuttynose Robust
    Founders
    Black Butte

It will only work if the cat ate coffee beans and coco nibs, so if not, start over!

I am loving Modern Times Black House right now, one of my favorite everyday drinking breweries right now.

Boulevard Dark Truth is a great introduction to the heavier stouts, I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet!
