So . . . your hot tub time machine brought you to BA from the early 2000s? Welcome!

    This isn't the X-Games, brah.

I never said it was about my tastes or preferences. I fully understand that we all enjoy different things. I am a huge proponent for 'Drink what you like'. Some people find Imperial Stouts too hot and/or robust. Others find them just right from the beginning.

I am well aware of all the forums on here where BA's will give advice on many topics. I find that most on here are very intelligent and kind in sharing their advice, opinions, anecdotes and knowledge of beer history . I have learned a lot from participating in discussions on this site.

    These are opinions, not facts.

Then what does 'beginner stout' mean? To most, that would mean you are new to drinking and/or craft beer so most people are going to reccomend easier to drink and less complex beers. If you just want a 'good' stout to try then look at the ratings section of this website and pick a few stouts. If you don't know what's available in your area, then go to a quality bottle shop in your and ask for some recommendations. Need help finding a quality bottle shop? There are ratings for those as well.

Personally, all I meant was I'm new to stouts what does the community recommend. Cool dude sent me a ton of breakfast stouts and stuff, this community is awesome and I'm thankful for the recommendations . I included the word beginner to open the discussion up to people that may be intimidated by the imperial stouts and breakfast stouts of the world, and some gave great suggestions. People are too literal these days man smh.

Beer does not get better with increasing ABV. Neither does music get better when it is louder.

All I said was that I've tried the lower ABV stuff, never inferred higher ABV beers are automatically better. Y'all read what you want to read.

I wish I had included a CW Brewers Reserve also, not too much barrel for someone testing the waters.

100% agree..... Left Hand Nitro is stouty, yet can sub in for a "normal" social drinking beer.

The other ones mentioned, while smooth drinking, and very delicious, would be more of a conscientious sipper...

Update: Drank an Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout over the weekend and that's one heck of a beer to enjoy in the winter.
