I'm meeting some out of towner friends Friday night for beers in Sunnyvale. As it stands now we're meeting at Firehouse. I'm just wondering if there are any other decent spots for beer in that area. Not necessarily looking for a world class beer selection, just a couple of good choices and maybe a bowl game on TV. Proximity to CalTrain is a plus. (Years ago I went to a place on Grape, which now appears to be called Beefy's Cabin. Anyone have any first hand experience at that place?)
St johns has a better beer selection than firehouse, although not as close to Caltrain as firehouse. If you want somewhere on Murphy square, check out Murphy's law. Nothing fantastic, but they'll have the game on, lagunitas on tap, and often have pretty fresh bottles of Pliny.
