Had anyone ever bought this from a store in California? Does it get distributed here? I am in Fairfield Vacaville area and only ever see Pere Jacques and Matilda ever. I heard that bcs is being released soon so was just curious.

    Thanks

I have bought it in CA, in 08 in four packs and 09 in bombers, it stayed on the shelves of every Bevmo for months, it hasn't been distributed since '09.

I don't think there is an official word yet on when, or if it will return.

I bought some at BDBS in 2010 (12oz bottles.)

Goose limited distribution on last year's batch because of the smaller yield, those of us in Chicago who were lucky enough to get any mostly got one 12oz bottle. The 2012 yield should be much greater so maybe they will distribute wider this year but I wouldn't expect to actually see any. Production will only be about 2x 2011 and there is MUCH more demand for this than there is supply.

They stopped distributing it to Cali in 2009 or early 2010. I miss those days.

'10 was distributed as well, I got several 4 packs in San Diego, and then another couple in the Bay Area. Haven't seen it since though.

They definitely had 4-packs in the Bay Area in 2010. Nothing at all since.

There's an article about GI going to all 50 states. Think that it will change the bcs situation

Question...sorry. I don't get the fact that we can get goose island but not all of the beers, same with dogfish, why only certain beers. I just thought it was because distributor in my area was garbage, but apparently it's all over Cali.

They make a bunch of Pere Jacque/Matilda, they can send it everywhere.
They make not very much BCBS, they can't send it everywhere.

Not sure if this makes anyone feel better about the availability, but Goose Island just started being distributed in NJ, and just recently got BCS for the first time, but it was in kegs. If this is any indication, then I'd imagine that we'll be seeing a lot more BCS from coast to coast.

They upped there BCBS production from 900 bourbon barrels to 1500 bourbon barrels and should start hitting other markets this fall and next fall 2013.

bottles shops should start hearing about their allocation of BCS in september/october but last year's allocation was soooo limited that chicago shops were lucky to get anything at all....

but goose island was able to almost triple their barrel-aging capacity because of the deal they had signed with AB so this year's BCS distribution should definitely be interesting!

we will see but i doubt what you cited is necessarily an example of things to come. my understanding was the kegs that were in select markets were from a secondary release that was supposed to be bottled & distributed. the fact that it was only kegged is probably an indication the usable amount of product they wound up with was extremely limited.

    Hello,

Thanks for stopping by our site! It's always nice to hear from fans of our Bourbon County Brand Stout, and I will be happy to tell you more about this fantastic brew.

At this time we haven't finalized a release date for the Bourbon County Stout for 2012, but we hope we will get it into stores very soon. My best advice is to follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/GooseIslandBeer for the freshest updates. When the bottles come off the line, we will let folks know about it.

You can also visit us at www.GooseIsland.com and click on our Beer Calendar and Beer Finder for the latest updates. The stores that are listed on our Beer Finder are possible locations for where it may be sold. I recommend keeping in touch with your local distributor to see if they will get a shipment, too. For your convenience I have listed their contact information below.

As we have many different brands brewing and a limited capacity, the amount of Bourbon County Brand Stout we brew is small. The beer takes about a year to age, and many are holding their breath for the release. While the 2011 BCBS is sold out, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the 2012 release.

We are working on improving both our capacity and availability. Our top priority is making BCBS available to more beer lovers this year. For instance, the Bourbon County Brand Stout we have aging now in barrels is twice the amount brewed for 2011. In the mean-time, I hope you can enjoy our smooth, rich Nut Brown Ale that we released earlier this year.

Thanks again for getting in touch. Please let me know if you have more questions. I hope you can enjoy our complex, smoky Bourbon County Brand Stout in the near future!

    Cheers,

    Reed

it's cool that you got a personal detailed response. but i find it funny that he snuck the nut brown ale in there as if it were the next best thing. like who gives a crap about that

I seriously doubt that this is a personal detailed response. this seems like a form letter to me, especially considering the awkward phrasing, complete avoidance of the actual question, lack of specific contact info at the end, and the really odd push for the nut brown. too bad, it would be really nice to know if we actually might get any of it this year.
