I think something that psychologically plays into this "how good is this beer vs this beer" debate (which we all know is stupid at this point) that a lot of people don't want to admit is how it is released. I think it's inarguable that a beer with a bigger release tends to get worse reviews. Yes, obviously this isn't how it is for every beer but it's a trend. KBS seemed to be much more plentiful this last release and I saw waaaayyy more complaining about it than usual. It will be interesting to see if CBS has a bigger release too to see if a ton of people hate on it then since it'll be less of a "whale". I'd be willing to bet serious money if TG did a Nationwide release for KBBS it's rating would definitely drop some (not throwing shade at TG, I can only dream of trying KBBS and I'm sure it's out of this world).

I'm amazed at how much discussion there is about batch variation with BCBS. I've had probably hundreds of tastes of regular going back to 2010, and I honestly have not really sensed any batch variation at all (excluding the infected 2015 bottles). Perhaps my palate isn't as discerning, or I've been lucky, or other people's minds are playing tricks on them.

The consistency of BCBS is one of the things that makes it so great to me - it delivers every time.

TG KBBS probably is amazing but can't believe it would be $200-$2k amazing. No beer is worth that much to me. My take on the whole BCBS is that I had about a dozen different barrel aged stouts in last couple months leading up to my first BCBS and with that said I wanted BCBS to tear those beers apart. It did based on abv but not flavor. And that is pretty much all tried to get at in regards to it. But ya know after I consume a 14.7 version I might have a different take and hell maybe I'll enjoy it more after 3 years aged.

I was thrilled to pick up two BCBS Coffee this year. When I saw they were a wimpy 12.9, I put them in a brown paper sack, and gave them to a homeless guy. Fake beer. Sad.

So any idea of what the bottle count was on Reserve and what states got it? I know they lied about the distro on that one, and that it was available at least in NC and FL.

Virginia reportedly got 20 cases, all of which went to Total Wine.

Thats because they add cold brew to what is dumped from the barrels, which is why I am so confused why people make such a big deal about BCBCS, you can replicate it exactly and end up with more beverage if you do it yourself.

Is that actually true? I assumed it was all brewed, or at least barrel-aged together. Any idea on ratios?

Also, since everyone else is arguing the point, as they do every dang year around this time, I'll throw my hat in and say that Boulevard's barreled beers are great if you like whiskey so much that you want to drink a full glass or two of it and not die (looking at you, Rye on Rye on Rye), KBS is phenomenal and straightforward, and is not as multi-dimensional as BCBS, which has the thickest, best body and mouthfeel in the game, but Uncle Jacob's is still my number 1 with the deepest, most multifaceted flavor.

Why do you even bother if you are just going to shit all over the thread? Your WRONG Michigan fanboy. Drink your Founders and go back under your bridge.

If memory serves, I think I said earlier in this thread that I read someplace that they had "110 casks" full of it. Someone above figured out how many cases that would be if none went to kegs (which obviously some did).

I'm drinking the only Bcbs I got this year. Love it young and fresh, no way this is short on the barrel , it's the 14.1 version. It can come off a tad sweet, but it's still so damn good.

Eat it! Not shitting all over the thread. I actually liked BCBS, I just find some other bourbon barrel stouts to be better. Sure I think Michigan beers could mop the floor with Illinois beers but that's a totally different topic. Hell I even found support on my claim from the beer differing from batch to batch with some having 14.1% abv and others having 14.7%. I had 14.1 and plan to have a 14.7 this weekend. Oh you better believe I will report back with those results. Hell maybe I'll even consider this beer a 5 @ that point. Only time can tell. But for how much people love this beer I'm almost certain I got a poorly brewed batch. For how much distro goes into this beer I'm sure not every beer is @ it's greatest. Hell check out November cellaring thread. 2009 vintage aged well whereas every vintage after 2011 (since AB inbev takeover) fell off after 3 years. So perhaps something great has become now a replica.
