Some of you guys that are able to still get your hands on the 2018 variants are very lucky indeed. Also, agree with the assessment about Bramble Rye. Had a sample when when it was fresh and it was just OK, but cracked open a bottle last week and it definitely tasted significantly better. I have one more bottle and will try that one in Nov or Dec. Looking forward to it.

Again, any proof of that, or more hater rumors? Pictures on a forum from who? Do they like GI? Why Colorado and not anywhere else? I've never heard of this until that last post. We get a ton of there stuff where I'm at and never saw anymore bottles from the infected year again. We got kegs here and there, but they were never infected so it didn't matter.

FYI. I'm not a fan boi. I like their BCBS beers only and think they do a good job at them. However, the hate is a little overboard imo. I get you hate them for "Selling out", but again, they are the best BA program at their output. Period. There's no debate. Are there better BA beers out there? For sure. Are their beer BA programs out there? Yes. But none on the sheer amount that they do. Really good breweries have had infection issues at a 1/5 if not less of what they put out. However, they get hardly none of the hate GI does.

They have the biggest infection issue, because they have the biggest BA program! Duh? By default, if they had one, it would be the biggest.

Also, you sure about that. Rumors they have done the same with the 3 Floyds collab beer too.

Do the price of beer ingredients, rent, barrels, tech, hiring new employees, taxes, etc never change? Did all that stay the same since the 90s? Do you understand business? Higher the demand with the same supply, the higher the prices. Also, if that wasn't the case, do you know what I do if a beer is too expensive? I don't buy it. If you had a business would you not charge the highest price ppl are willing to pay for your services? Everyone is charging more. Everyone. Craft beer was/is blowing up, so does prices. No one gives AF about JWB beers, guess you haven't seen the trade forums around Feb when he has Wakefest. You might not care, but tons of ppl do.

"early stages of turning"? How long after you bought them did you taste that? Clear to whom? You?

Also, never said ppl didn't get the shaft. Through the protocol they set up, everyone I knew who had issues got their money back on the infected bottles they had. I'm sorry that wasn't the experience for everyone.

This excites me, mostly because BCBS was my introduction to BA stouts, and I've always wanted to try, but never obtained, a coffee version.

Two years ago I even went to a bottle shop that was trying to sell them early (Weds before Black Friday), only to be told that they'd been chastised by Goose Island for selling early. So they took my info (along with a handful of other people there waiting) and told me they'd hold one for me for however long it took me to return (was going out of town for Thanksgiving). Came back Saturday and they had none left. Was so bummed.

I guess that's fair, you'd think "the best barrel aged brewery" wouldn't have a systematic infection effecting multiple bottling dates, on 4 different marks, but yeah, they sell a lot of beer and had a huge recall, I think we covered that.

Bruery did give people money back on RDF, and saying something may be infected, buy if you want, is not really the same as selling beer you know is infected, offering refunds, and then making a cutoff that people didn't know about and not honor the refunds. Not the same thing at all actually, nice try though.

And sure, they were free to make the price whatever they wanted to when they switched to 500ml bottles, and I'm free to point that out to people that they doubled it by volume, overnight.

And no, sorry when I google a JWB beer and the only mentions of it on the internet are people on beer black book trying to sell a beer no one has tried, for $500, it doesn't pique my interest, in the slightest. Must be a Florida thing.

Posts from shop owners on BA with photos to back it up. Why Colorado? Because bud can owns their own distribution chain here. Easy peasy. Clearly I must not have hated GI due to them selling out since I purchased some infected BCBS, nice try though champ. Maybe swing a bit lower next time. :beers:

The year is 2031. A user of the site BeerAdvocate passes away, his soul drifts toward the clouds of heaven leaving behind his body and also sadly the snifter of stout he just poured.

St Peter: "What accomplishment are you most proud of in your life?"

BA: "Last week I think I really proved a point and changed a guy's mind about the BCBS infection of 2015."

St. Peter: *turns red and sprouts horns "We've been saving you a seat at the bar..."

*clouds dissipate revealing the old GI brewpub bar surrounded by flames and filled with drunks angrily screaming at each other about BCBS infections and the quality of GI's barrel-aging program for all eternity.

What part of PA? There are certainly no bottles to be found in the Harrisburg area.

Every beer distributor in South Eastern Pennsylvania. Harrisburg is a tough spot to be in for beer distribution.

This man speaks the truth. I'm lucky to have a buddy from Seattle who travels home frequently and shares this liquid gold with me. I love me some Bourbon County, but I'd take Rusty Nail or Cinnamon and Coffee B-Bomb over BCBS any day.

Well now, I'm no math doctor, but your math here is off.
First of all, how can you assume they were "making plenty of money" on the old 4-packs?
Second, The price per ounce did not "more than double"
    1420ml / $20 = 71 ml / $1
    500 ml / $10 = 50 ml / $1
This is a 42% increase in cost, but that is not more than double. At the $9.99 price point, BCBS is a relative bargain compared to similar quality BBA Imperial Stouts.

There are peanut butter beers, beers with almonds, beers with artificial fruit flavorings, beer with milk sugar, etc. Beer by itself is an allergen for people with with celiacs...
