That's 100%.... Joint called Beer Temple had cherry rye on the shelf last week.

I had one last week and its hard for me to fathom a beer being any better regardless of rarity or cost. I would love to acquire a couple more but don't see that happening. That being said, for me it's one of the only beers I've had that lived up to the hype and I would pull the trigger on any reasonable trade.

If I'm thinking of what you are referring to, Beer Temple sold 1 person a bottle of Cherry Rye that they had stored in the back. Cherry Rye pales in comparison to the original Cherry BCS aged in bourbon barrels anyway...

Don't remember to tell you the truth. Might have been but have never left your place not wasted.

Maybe my post wasn't as clear as intended.

When Dupage25 mentioned the story about Binnys employees stuffing barrels that day I just wanted to clarify and say that it wasn't just Binny's folk, but also other brewery workers in the area, bloggers, podcast folk, etc...

    Cheers!

I believe it was $12.99 or $15.99 for Coffee Stout this year at Whole Foods in NYC. Certainly wasn't $24.99.

It hit $25 here, so did Cherry Rye. Actually, I think some places might have even had it up as high as $30. I ended up going to NJ for mine since it got so ridiculous.

When did they sell it this year at Whole Foods?

But yeah, glad I found Cherry Rye on tap last week instead of having to trade for a bottle.

I could be wrong, but I believe that that the price to retailers for Coffee was about $5 cheaper/per than Cherry Rye

Yes they did...several bars and stores in NYC had it, including multiple Whole Foods locations. Several bars have also periodically put it back on tap in the last few months...I'd imagine there are still a few kegs floating around NYC yet to be tapped.

Well it only hit DC in late January so it's quite possible that wherever you found it had just put it on the shelf. Every place I know of that had it sold out within a matter of days if not hours. We only got 30 cases if I remember, might not have actually been that many.

Most WF stores in NYC only got a case of Cherry Rye in, and it sold out in an hour or two. I was lucky enough to snag one at WF Chelsea (had to ask the beer guy, the case was kept in the back room). I also managed to snag a bottle at New Beer. I think I paid $20 a bottle. Coffee was much easier to find - it was between $15 - $16 in Brooklyn, and was still available as of about February. New Beer has some in their back room but want $30 for the Coffee, which is a rip off.
