Hello. I don't trade, because I'm too much of a procrastinator to be get things in the mail in a timely fashion - so the little trading that I do is among people in my city (in person). Given this, I'm not really in the know of what beers are worth. I have several bottle of Cherry Rye and was wondering, for example, would one bottle be enough to trade for a 4-pack of Heady Topper?

Cherry rye would easily trade for a 4 pack of heady topper. $4$ is a little off as well on the Heady side. If you really want to try Heady I would throw up the trade and i'm sure you could negotiate more than 4 cans for your bottle.

Cherry Rye = 6 cans of Heady I think.

Or you could trade semi-limited locals for Heady Topper without giving up your Cherry Rye, just a thought.

If it behooves you to do this - two four packs is fair.

i wouldnt trade cherry rye for heady topper....my opinion is there are plenty of WC ipas out there that you can get fairly easily...however, there are not as many WC BA stouts out there that will match up to the BCBS and black note variants. ..you could get heady toppery fairly easily by offering some regular BCBS or some pipeworks abduction series beers....that smy rationale.

Or, you can choose not to over think things, disregard what others tell you that you should or shouldn't do, and just trade the beers you want to trade for the beers you want to drink.

Heady is great, but it seems silly to trade rare, barrel-aged beer for something that's year round at close to $4$. There are plenty of traders in VT willing to hook it up for similarly delicious year-round locals (i.e. Jai Alai, Gandhi bot, Zombie Dust, etc.).

isnt that why he made this thread? was to get some advice and ask about trading for heady topper? nobody is telling him what to do, just offering their general opinion...if he didnt want opinions, i am pretty sure he would not have made this thread.....

Thanks all. Truth is, barrel aged stouts are not something I go mad for. Just wanted to get an honest pulse on what it is worth. I'm trading it for 6 HTs. Like I said, I'm not a trader, and I really need to satisfy this HT curiousity.

the second bolded comment is pretty different than the first though. what it's worth (IMO) is a whole lot more than 6 HT. You probably could have traded it for at least 16 HT, honestly. Cherry Rye is a very hard to trade for beer.

for instance check out this post from yesterday which offered the following for Cherry Rye. it got done, but not even immediately.

2x BCBS (which I have traded for 4x HT)
2x KBS (worth at least 6x HT)
1 Cantillon Rose 375 (which I have traded for 4x HT, could have traded for more)
1x Uncle Jacobs (prob 2x Heady)

Perhaps, but this was very convenient and I have already consumed 2 of the 6.

That said, my now thoughts on HT is that is a top tier DIPA in direct company with many others. I'm dumbfounded by its overall rank. I really don't understand the erections

I found a generous trader with a CR for a BASC as well. I haven't had the CR yet, but it's not lopsided at all the BA Sexual Chocolate is damn good, and a brewery only release, and with less bottles. I would not trade the CR for 18 HT's, but then again I've had a ton of HT, and I get it twice a year in volume.
