Gotta skip it. I plan to save my disposable dollars for a benefit concert at the Observatory for a friend with cancer (actually more friend of a friend - I hardly know her).

Does Goose Island typically sell bottles of BCBS at these events or nearby retailers during Migration Week?

That wasn't the case last time Migration Week hit Seattle.

Do folks still get excited over stuff like this ?
Maybe I'm too Oregonized to care?
Have to say their website is very good.

    Good for you.
    Go for it.
Im lame i agree..as in i would rather be down my local brewpub( like now), enjoying a few pints. At least that goes into my local economy.

Happily so. You have your fun chasing down the "popular" beer, we'll be us drinking something else.

That is awesome! One has BCS before the barrel...that would be epic

Yeah, it's a shame you weren't here all those years ago to show those of us who supported local breweries and helped to build the scene how lame we are. Of course AB wouldn't have jumped on the bandwagon and begun to buy breweries to do events like migration week in the first place, but yeah. We're the lame ones. Not the person riding the rails of the hype train.

    Signed,

Get off my lawn and whatnot.

AB or not, I don't think bourbon county beers qualify for hype train status...unless you believe all barrel aged beers in general are a fad.

Wait, you think because barrel aged beers are good means that BCBS doesn't benefit from a tremendous amount of hype?
    LOL ...

No, I just think that BCBS is a great BA beer and is relatively easy to get that it doesn't qualify as having a "tremendous amount of hype".

When people line up hours before and camp out all night to get certain beers and resell them for hundreds of dollars a bottle to even thousands, that seems more along the lines of tremendous amounts of hype. I could buy BCBS 2 months after the release at Ralphs for $8 a bottle.

So if BCBS is so hyped, not sure how you would categorize beers like KBBS and DB Huna or whatever the flavor of the week is.

Now, having lived in the NW and Southern CA, I realize hype may mean two different things to us.

Nice hearing from you, Whiskey. Found yourself a replacement for Pints down there yet?

If you are an adult standing outside a place that sells beer before it is open, especially without having tasted what you are in line for, then that is hype you are waiting for. People didn't do that specifically for BCBS (that I know of) but they did for the whole BCBS lineup including variants so...kinda hyped?

Most of the beer made up this way is fairly easy to get. Certain bottling's from dG and Holy Mountain have been difficult to come by, and then there was the HOTD AFTW release a few years back, where folks lined up for hours to get their case. However, you could still buy AFTW at the tasting room years after the release, and for most dG releases, if you're willing to make the effort, most dG stuff is attainable.

So as these things go, BCBS is pretty hard to obtain. Our last allocation here in Eugene was very small, and the few places that got any, it was gone almost as soon as it hit the shelf. For the NW, that's an unusually difficult beer to obtain.
