I have not. I found a pretty cool local place that has some crazy beers on tap, but its' not uncommon for me to have to point to the tap I want because the girl behind the bar has no idea WTF I'm talking about.
Looks like Spokane is getting more an more attention and distro, very cool time to be in Spokane NOT standing in lines!

You have a point, I just think of hype being related to beer that doesn't deserve attention but gets a huge amount of it. BUT, I am a self proclaimed Bourbon County fan boy so I'm sure my viewpoint is skewed!

Having spoken with people that work in beer shops (and coincidentally I was in the beer aisle at Whole Foods the day BCBS released so I saw it first hand) about the number of calls and frantic people that show up day of release, I know that a great deal of hype does surround this beer. Many people are folks that never even tried it, but they're freaking out trying to get their hands on it. These are people who definitely bought into the hype. And there's lots of them.

As for how I categorize KBBS or DB Huna ... I don't. Thankfully, I'm blissfully unaware of what they are. Couldn't care less about them either.

KDS and even coffee KDS was markedly easier to find and sat longer than the tiny allotment of BCBS here. Which, BCBS sat for a good two weeks this year...much shorter than the usual couple months.

And its only gonna get worse as the Inbev-Budweiser advertising increases.

I'm having to look around for a new beer geeky local myself, as Jones Radiator ceased operations a few weeks ago. I've always liked the Swamp Tavern, but it's not really the same kind of thing. I have been hitting Iron Goat's new digs quite a bit, however, what with the walk being all of about 10 minutes.

Looking at Blackbird's tap list, they've still got BCBS listed, along with '14 BBA Abominable, which they've had on a couple weeks now. It's not a straight comparison, not being KDS, but it might make an interesting side-by-side.

I didn't go out to the BCBS shenanigans, but I won't condemn someone who did. It's been a bucket list beer for quite a while for a lot of people, myself included, before I got a bottle of it myself (that I haven't opened yet). At the same time, I'm not going to chase it down while ignoring local beers that are probably just as good, though Spokane sees a fraction of the BA Fremont beers Seattle sees, and BA Spokane area beers are usually draught only options that you can't growler up, so the rarity factor is about the same, becoming a right place-right time-right balance in the bank situation. I'm not fond of In-Busch, but it's not like I neglect local beers for their sake in any way.

Do people like up at Fremont the day when KDS and variants are released? I honestly don't know.

I know! It's a great place, just too far away for me to risk the drive home from!
