Wisdom! I, too, learned long ago - don't talk about what is spent on vacation or a getaway when "in the moment". Strap in, hold on, and hopefully repair any serious damage later. So that lobster roll is $65... not like we're eating them every day.

To the topic, the guy can charge whatever he wants - whether it is justifiable in the eyes of the mere mortal consumer or not. I don't think anybody is being forced to go there or pay his prices. And if enough consumers vote "nay" - well, we know where that ends.

It amazes me sometimes. Specifically to beer, when my kids were in high school we worked Gillette Stadium as a fundraiser for the music program. Kids worked the McDonalds, adults worked the beer. This was 25 years ago, and a draft Bud/Bud Light was $9 for a 12 ounce cup. There were times sales were so heavy you'd open the tap and just leave it on, running the cup under and getting it filled as best you could to have any hope of keeping up with the usually surly crowd. And it did not matter the event - soccer, football, concert, even a drum and bugle corps competition. And often times we'd get a $20 bill for a beer and they'd walk off without taking their change. Most people tipped well because it was a fundraiser and well-publicized, but it did get absurd at times. Maybe a lot of people are there for a "one time experience" and guzzling a bunch of beers is part of it? Dunno - it was simultaneously amusing and scary...

The wife and I see the same thing with wine and mixed drinks (in sippy cups, no less) and beer in the metal bottles when we go to the theater (musical theater, not movies) and we just don't understand why people can't go 2.5 hours without a beverage and just visit one of the abundant and high quality local establishments after the show - and I have no idea what they charge at the venue, but it's gotta be pretty steep. Maybe people feel it enhances the experience and makes it classier to have a drink while watching the show, so it's that "experiental" thing at play? Or maybe we're really strange ourselves in our lack of understanding.

I’d say “great” and then see what she has to say after you spend $300 bucks on an escort.

I go to the Las Vegas strip pretty often and IMO the variety of beer available on it has declined in the last few years. You'll see Stone, Lagunitas, 805, SNPA, etc. cans almost everywhere. That's nice, but that's also kinda it now. There was a period of time (roughly 2013-2018) where you'd see a lot more local options and a larger variety of non high profile stuff from the west coast as well. Now 95% of the little shops carry the exact same stuff. No hyperbole, I mean they have the exact same offerings and their coolers are literally identically organized. Tap handles at most little bars = identical, too. Whoever handles beer distro on the strip has done a masterful job of cloning the exact same store/bar like 75 times. Restaurants are in a similar situation. There are places with different selections around if you look, but there was a time when you didn't really need to look. At the very least, you'd see random casino bars and cafes with slightly different handles. Not anymore.
