    I had a buddy brew a "historic recipe" and he decided to add a ridiculous amount of acid malt to it in order to add "sourness" but it didn't get anything more than an acidic edge to it. Not anywhere near what I'd call sour and he used something like 10x the recommended amount of acid malt. So I agree with you whole heartedly.
