I am driving from GR to Louisville tomorrow. Any places to hit on the way? It doesn't seem like there is anything that is a must stop from my quick research. Am I better off just powering through and finding a bourbon bar in Louisville? Bottle shop recommendations for the way home are appreciated as well.

There's a couple good places in Louisville. The best, and most expensive place is Sergios. I found BA Rasputin, Tweak, Uncle Jacobs, and plenty others just sitting on the shelf....because it's overpriced.

But good luck finding them in MI. I also suggest visiting a big liquor barn in Louisville. They have tons of stuff.

I also suggest visiting ATG trying a sampler, and pick up some bottles like London balling.

Made essentially this trip last year, but from Chicago. Definitely check out the Holy Grale in Louisville and Silver Dollar (for Bourbon). I made a few stops for some 18th Street/Sour Note and then in Indy to grab some Sun King.

When are you driving back? There's a brand new brewery in Indy called Deviate that is roughly excellent. They are only open Friday nights after 5 and on the weekend. Since moving here 6 months ago it's more or less the only local brewery I've been thrilled with. They post their taplist on their website with explanations. Absolutely worth checking out. They will fill full-size and half growlers from anywhere.

If you're planning on coming down I-65 there is (or was) a large section closed between Lafayette and Indy. If you're coming down I-69 I also highly recommend Deviate. There is a Keg Liquors in Clarksville before you get to Louisville that occasionally gets Zombie Dust.

Bare Hands Brewery right on the IN-MI border is a good first stop, if your route brings you close to South Bend. They are getting hugely popular in the South Bend area and just started distributing. They also sell cans to go if you don't want to stay long

I-65 is now open up by Lafayette again. Also, Deviate is very close to the I-865 bypass that connects I-65 with the north side of I-465 so it wouldn't be a very painful detour at all.
