Hey guys/gals, I need help converting an all grain recipe to extract. I've haven't brewed an extract for about 17 yrs. Nephew wants to learn to brew so going to start him out the way most of us started. Here is the grain bill. Will do some grain steeping. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

7 lbs 12.0 oz Pale Malt (2 Row) US
4 lbs Pale Malt, Maris Otter
    14 oz Carahell
    14 oz Crystal Malt 40L
    12 oz Wheat Flaked Toasted
    5 oz Cara-Pils
    12.5 oz Corn Sugar

Basically you're just gonna be multiplying by .75 for a LME conversion.
So if you're doing a grain steeping already…you may as well do a partial mash to take care of that flaked wheat…unless you want starch. Keep a pound of base grain (either maris or pale malt) and soak it at 152F for like 45 minutes with the carapils & flaked wheat in 3 qts. water. Rinse the grains after waters like you're sparing. Add in a can of Maris Otter LME and a can of pale LME, then about a pound of extra light DME…that should get you back to where you started with the all-grain batch. Get yourself a recipe calculator…they're fun to play with.

Thanks for the help. Can't believe I don't remember how to do a basic brew!
