Heading to Grand Haven for a few days. Beyond OddSide, any beer bars, breweries, or bottle shops worth checking out near Grand Haven? Obviously stopping by Grand Rapids for Stellas Lounge, Hopcat, Brewery Vivant, and Founders, but looking for other options. Any help is appreciated!

Dutch Girl Brewing in Spring Lake, which is across the street from Vandermill Cider (if fermented apples are your thing). Both are definitely worth a visit. Muskegon is just up the road and Pigeon Hill Brewing is doing some excellent stuff.

In GR we have Perrin, Greyline, and Arktos Meadery in addition to what you mentioned. Do NOT go to Dutch Girl unless you want to waste time. Their beer is god awful. And yes, I've had most of them.

If you go south from Grand Haven you have New Holland, Saugatuck Brewing, and Our Brewing Co. All are great.

North of Grand Haven you have Pigeon Hill and Unruly. Unruly is making some really great stuff

I've been hearing some decent things about Armory in GH.

I'll be there Thursday and Friday of this week as well.

Also depending on where you're coming from in Indiana, Arclight is a MUST in Watervliet. Their Opus sours are amazing.

Haha, our opinions are so opposite. You hate Dutch Girl but like Unruly?

Head to the Tip a Few on Franklin, and thank me later. Not a craft beer bar, but the best damn local spot this side of the Mississippi. Plus, Huma is on tap.

Good lord they are not god aweful. Are they great, no, average sure. The need for extremism on all internet boards is so annoying.

Grand Armory in Grand Haven is worth going to for the bbq, beer is ok but getting better. Maybe a 2 block walk from Odd Side.

I definitely feel Dutch Girl is a waste of time and I don't try to encourage extremism on the interwebs. It's just not very good beer at all. And yes, Unruly is better. I'd personally rather spend more time at Odd aside.

SPRING LAKE TOWNSHIP, MI - Dutch Girl Brewery was in business for less than two years before it abruptly closed in March 2017.

Less than two months later, on Tuesday, May 2, the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy with the Western District of Michigan Bankruptcy Court.

Dutch Girl had some beers that really sounded good on paper. Their execution left a lot to be desired and was ultimately a big let down for me.
