My wife and I are headed to the UP for a few days of snowmobiling, staying in Grand Marais. Any breweries worth checking out, especially if they are on a trail? Obviously aware of Lake Superior Brewing, any others within a hundred miles or so?
    Thanks

Voyageur Brewing is in Grand Marias. Also maybe you should stop at Fitgers in Duluth. Bent Paddle is also in Duluth. Castle Danger is also along the way up and well worth a stop in, such friendly people and great beer!

East Channel Brewing, in Munising, is your best bet distance-wise. Otherwise:
    • Marquette has Blackrocks, Ore Dock, The Vierling, and Barrell+Beam (about to open).
    • Ishpeming has Cognition.
These are quite a haul from Grand Marais by trail, though.

OP is talking about Grand Marais MI, not MN. Good recs for the north shore of MN, though

Yeah, I apologize, I meant Michigan. Anything on the way up? Aware of Grayling/Gaylord stuff.

Not sure of your route, but this ought to help.

A quick stop off at Short's is totally worth it, especially if you need to grab a bite while on the road.

Tahquamenon Falls Brewing https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/5156/ is on a snowmobile trail, but their beers are just average at best.

If you are looking at stopping in Gaylord on the way up or back, Big Buck Brewing has closed. There is a new brewery in town now called Snowbelt https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/48152/ but I have not been there to say if their beers are any good.

Hey, that place in Munising looks like it might be a destination. We've been to Shorts every year we head north, definitely worth the drive, too far off the road this year.

Yeah, we went to Snowbelt last year, it's not bad, we'll go again when we stay up that way next month.
Kinda sad to see Big Buck shut down. It seemed inevitable it would close, but we would ride past it from the hotel to the trail, good location, mediocre beers and food. Never once busy in the dozen times we stopped in.
