Got a buddy heading there for business today. Said he would pick beers up for me. Any suggestions. I know Vivant is there and does Founders do brewery only retail bottles or cans?
Founders does occasional brewery-only releases, but none have occurred for a while, so it's unlikely that anything special would be in their store. Brewery Vivant sometimes has brewery-only beers, and everything from them is delicious, as long as you are a Belgian fan. Some nice 'tart' beers come from that place too. Have your buddy pick up some Short's stuff. It doesn't get any distro outside of Michigan, and everything from them is great. Here's a link to their 2015 release schedule. https://www.shortsbrewing.com/2015-release-schedule/ Ermagedness is hitting store shelves this week for the first time, and it is reported to be delicious. Any of the seasonal/specialty beers that your buddy finds will be a gem for you.
Shorts and Oddsides. If you don't get Founders normally, get anything! Also if you don't get Bells. 30th ann. Ale is hitting stores right now.
I picked one up yesterday and it's in the fridge right now. My beer guy said it was kind of a herbal tea / beer taste. We'll see.
Look out for brewery vivant pumpkin tart. It's great. Spectra was unexpected.. not my cup of "tea" (pun intended) its a light kolsh ginger bomb with a somewhat tart lemon aftertaste. Very strange offering imo....none the less worth picking up a single.
Herbal lemon cough drop. Wow. No thank you.* The artsy hipsters will soak this up though. * I don't drain pour though... I will suffer through.
