A friend is coming up Saturday to GR to see band @ the intersection wants to get some bottles to go somewhere close or in route coming in 131 from south. Told him founders is close but to go was nothing special ( carry out that is) . To me G B Rosso may be best bet. Any current info be much appreciated He has 500 mi round trip that day so he must keep it short as possiable. Cheers All
International Beverage and Sicilianos are both close to 131...map them...they both have great selections
I will check what's on tap Friday but they only fill growlers with the more commons & not 3rd tier stuff. He wants some KBS , I told him that's funny, dream on
Have him take 131 North from the Intersection then 196 West toward Holland. The second exist is Lake Michigan Drive. Sicilianos is 1.5 miles on the left. There are no good bottle shops downtown.
True, they won't sell KBS but I took home a growler of Frangelic Mountain Brown and it was incredible. Some of the Tier 2 brews are tap-house only.
Is he going to Mastodon & Opeth then? My boyfriend is heading to that same show. Martha's Vineyard, Smitty's, and Art of the Table aren't really that far from the Intersection. There is also a party store on Fulton just a bit from downtown that has some decent craft, but they tend to price gouge. (Saw some Better Half still on the shelf there the other day for 24.99) Is he looking for rare stuff or just Michigan beers?
Thanks all. & yea that's the show . Will give him all your options so he can choose . I told him he would have alot of choices. I will send him a couple growlers just in case Thanks again
Yeah man! I'll be at the Mastodon/Opeth show too. It's gonna be epic!!!!!! I'll be hitting up Founders before the show. It's only a block south of The Intersection.
Oh & one more thing does hopcat do growlers & do they sell the glass (growler) And does founders sell growlers (the glass) if so prices ? Or must you bring your own Oh & my friend is going for Ghost
They both do growlers. By state law you have to use their growlers. It's a packaging/labelling thing. The glass is cheap. Usually only like 3 bucks added onto the fill.
I fill my Victory growler at Founders about once every few weeks. Have been doing that for the past 2 years. The nice thing is it is not just 64 ounces, it is about 67 or 68. Every extra little bit is appreciated and they fill it to the tip top.
Legally, no. That's not saying that some places still do it, but it's not technically legal. State of MI views a growler as a bottle, which in turn falls under the Integrity in Packaging as defined by TTB, meaning the package must accurately represent the contents of a bottle (brewery logo, Fed warning, size, and a small sticker or label with the particular name or style of beer it contains.) Furthermore, since a growler is considered a bottle, only manufacturers may fill them (micros and brewpubs) and legally they can only be filled with product made by that brewery. We all know that some bars fill them, and some places fill them with other people's beer, but it is not legal, and as I have discussed in another thread, it's seller beware, as several establishments have been fined for these violations recently.
