Oh, and for something a little more unique to see, check this out:

And if you need bottles, check out The Beverage Company, Bayshore Market, Burritts Market (ask for Shawn, and get a pie from GT Pie Company in the same parking lot), or Tilly's Party Store.

You really can't go wrong with either choice. If you end up in GR, it sounds like you would enjoy Saugatuck (art + shops), Grand Haven (shops + beer + walking along the canal and lake), and/or Holland (shops + beer) as day trips. My favorite place in GR for dinner is Bistro Bella Vita (good food and nice beer selection).

I prefer staying closer to downtown in TC, but a nice option a bit further out would be Grand Traverse Resort. You can usually find some good deals for rooms if you look. If you end up in TC, you need to hit Patisserie Amie for breakfast (or lunch or dinner). Other options in addition to what other's threw out there are Red Ginger and Amical. 7 Monk's is a must visit for drinks. Have a good trip!

Amical was one of the best meals I've ever had! Definitely treat the lady to that place.

Another vote for Traverse City. Not to take anything away from GR, but TC is one of the most beautiful and scenic places in Michigan.

Park Shore Resort is what I think we've narrowed it down to.

Red Mesa Grill is across the street from that. Good food. The other places mentioned are better though.

I'm going to jump in here at vote for TC. I love GR and it is a great town to party but TC is way better for an anniversary. I would totally recommend driving up Old Mission and hitting Jolly Pumpkin for lunch and a beer. Great beer from both Jolly and North Peak there.

FYI: beer that is bottled from North Peak is not the same as on tap at North Peak in TC. Old Mission has the good stuff. The brewpub in TC has subpar beer in my opinion.

If you're looking for a great anny dinner look no further than Aerie Restaurant. http://www.grandtraverseresort.com/dining/aerie-en.html
It sits on the top of the Grand Traverse resort and looks over the East Traverse Bay and is gorgeous. The food is amazing as well.

So trip completed. Drove up and went to New Holland, Brewery Vivant, Green Well, and Right Brain on the first day. Blossom Days Wine tasting (8 wineries on Old Mission), and Jolly Pumpkin. Grand Traverse Resort brunch, Shorts, and Amical. Underground Cheesecake lunch, Odd Sides, Lighthouse Outlet Mall, and local mexican restaurant here in Bolingbrook. Thanks again to all!
