Anyone ever added any seasoning to a grapefruit IPA? I was thinking cinnamon might taste good if done right. Cheers

Disagree, but that is what makes this hobby special.

Lemongrass, maybe. Ginger, maybe but probably not.

Were you considering adding actual grapefruit or just going for hop equivalent of grapefruit?

I'm with Plankton. Cinnamon in an IPA (grapefruit or no) doesn't sound delicious to me. But if you want to find out, dose a glass of a commercial IPA with some cinammon and taste it.

Thanks for the input. I will be adding actual grapefruit to the secondary. Also dry hoping with citra. Boil additions were 1st wort with Amarillo/30 min Amarillo/15 with citra

Small amounts of coriander work well with grapefruit.

Toasted coconut vanilla bean and grapefruit is an awesome combo

Seeds of paradise would go well I think. In small amounts. DO NOT ADD TOO MUCH; they are strong in flavor. I wouldn't add anymore than 1/8 Oz. to a 5 gallon batch. If you're going for more pepper/pine/citrus flavor; add more.

Seeds, or "grains of paradise" add a slight peppery/citrus/pine flavor; which I think would go well with the Grapefruit flavors.

I think cinnamon would clash with the grapefruit, not complement it at all.

And Citra. Lots of related compounds, especially once fermented.

I like the grapefruit taste and aroma in some IPA’s. I use Mosaic Hops to add Grapefruit flavors and aromas.

I would suggest you make a tea of whatever spice you want to add and ONLY introduce it in very small amounts to a single beer to try first. You can always add more but you can’t remove once in. If it comes out good then add to batch. If not you only have to drain pour one beer.
