I just ordered a few bottles of the Grassroots Arctic Saison... seems like BA doesnt think nearly as high of it as RB... anyone have any personal experiences they care to share?

and, am I right in assuming it probably ages in some fun ways?

I don't know if it qualifies as a "personal experience" but I had enjoyed 2 bottles.

My impression is that every beer is rated higher on RB than on BA. Not sure why that might be.
As for aging it, the beer's only been out for a few weeks so your guess is probably as good as anyone else's.

I enjoyed it. Not sure I'd go back to this one on a regular basis (based on it's higher than average price point) but I would be happy to store one away for a while...

I completely agree with you about Brother Soigne. Easily one of the best saisons I've ever had. However, Arctic saison (at least currently) isn't nearly as good. That isn't so much a slam of Arctic saision as it is high praise from Brother Soigne. I had a bottle of Arctic the other day and it reminded me a lot of Saison-Brett. I am guessing that like Saison-Brett it will develop into a more complex and delicious beer with time.

maybe I'll just have all 3 for next summer, and hope for the best... but i will probably get impatient and pop one before then.

I loved it, bright and citrusy, mellow funk. A great summer saison. I don't know what the price was around the country, but at $12 I had no problem buying a couple more to enjoy through the rest of the summer.

The numerical 5.0pt scores on RB tend not to be any higher, but the weighting for the 100pt score that is calculated from the average is slightly different and puts more beers at the top of the scale if that makes any sense.

It's wonderful. Doesn't have the same transcendent mouthfeel as a HF/Grassroots saison, but it's an awesome beer. I'd like to age a few and let the Brett develop, because I think this will really be a great experience with the customary brilliant brett flavors in aged Anchorage beers (such as the Galaxy IPA aged...holy brett greatness). Arctic Saison is worth the money I think. (It was $15 for me.)

It's a tasty beer but I wasn't blown away by it. I was pretty happy to be able to buy it in CA though.

Its a great beer but it has a couple of issues. Number one it was a collaboration and number two it hit wide distribution.

Brother Soigne might be in my Top 3 beers of the year. It's so ridiculously good, citrusy, and under the radar, since its Grassroots and not Hill Farmstead. I've never had Mimosa but can only imagine that this is quite similar.

...why are those faults? exclusivity doesn't change the way it tastes... nor does who made it...

Now they can't try to flip it for BVDL, though.
