Thanks in advance for all the help!

I'm brewing an apple caramel brown with a few friends. We want to hit the brew w/ a secondary on apples. OG was 1.086 on Saturday and tonight fell to 1.025. I've read not to hit it with secondary unless the OG stays constant because the reading may suggest that it's not done fermenting or there's something wrong with the beer. Help!

After four days I wouldn't have expected it to be done yet anyway with an OG that high. Give it more time

fg: 1.025 is probably lower than average for a beer of OG: 1.086...good job...apples away! ; )

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you worried the gravity is too low? Are you in a hurry to get the beer onto the apples, and you're worried the fermentation isn't done?

Wait until at least next Saturday (1 week) and then add the apples. No reason that I can see to worry/panic at this point.

For the future, it is probably easiest to keep all your questions regarding one beer to the same thread, that way you won't have to repeat the apple part and you wont't get people like me wanting to know why you are doing a secondary

Don't be in a big o'hurry getting the beer off the yeast just yet b/c they're still getting busy cleaning up the mess they made chewing an 86 wort down to a 25.

No doubt, unless you are letting it sit there for months, no problem giving it a little more time. Thought it was pretty funny op questioning the gravity drop...thats fermentation at work!

Just take a gravity reading for a couple days, if it stays at 1.025 then ur good to go
