Okay, so I read the thread about blood orange beers where tectactoe mentions Lambeek Wants Blood Orange. I hadn't heard of that beer, so I scoped it out and saw the 1.95 rating. It's by Dark Horse Brewing, http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1471, a pretty solid brewery with a page full of beers in the high 3s and low-to-mid 4s.

Yikes. That one clunker really stands out as a misfire. Any other breweries that you can think of with solid lineups and that one clunker?

Three Floyds and anything they brew with bugs/wild yeast comes to mind.

Southern Tier Heavy Weissen. tasted like a bandaid and way too boozy... and I usually love booze

Every brewery will have a dud, it's how they bounce back that counts. No one bats 1000 and to expect someone to is crazy. I actually respect breweries that push the envelope and have duds as well as awesome beers because at least they are experimenting.

Do you mean breweries with a lunker based on score or personal opinion? Because for personal opinion, I'd have to go with Bell's and their Midwestern Fail Fail. I mean, Pale Ale.

Not sure if you heard of it, but there's this small brewery up in VT that makes a beer called Heady Topper. Total dud! Everything else they make though...

They were a brewpub before they closed and started just canning HT at their cannery.

There are breweries that don't have clunkers?

Oh, I know the whole story. Tropical Storm Irene was a real bitch around these parts. My post was a joke because obviously they only brew the one now. Most of my Vermont friends who frequented the brewpub actually consider a few of their other beers to be better than Heady.

Alpine Mandarin Nectar. It may not be a true clunker but I didn't like it.

Most of their brews are world-class.

NB Rolle Bolle comes to mind but I feel that nearly every brewery has a beer or two that I don't like in the slightest. I chalk it up to palette, because somebody has to be buying it and drinking it for them to keep making it...

Whoa Nelly! Somebody needs to come into present day society. Shorts has not had a clunker in a few years since they started pasteurizing their beers and discontinued some others. They've grown up.
