So, Great Divide is releasing cases of the (now extinct) Belgian Yeti for $25 a case via Imbibe Denver. I've posted the details and line below for all interested parties.

What other releases are coming up? Noticed a bunch of subsequent dates...and I know there are a ton of old cases that need to be cleaned out instead of moved to the new warehouse.

When I talked to the guys at Great Divide on Wednesday, they said that they will likely keep doing this until they run out of their back stock supply.

Thought you might work at GD. No worries - I've got my sources. Lots of additional releases coming up...

When I asked the guy helping with the case pick ups, he told me that this was the only one they planned on releasing, which I hope is incorrect (and hoping that he either didn't know or was specifically talking about the $25/case deal, and not just lying about other releases....)

There are a ton of cases at the warehouse they're going to get rid of instead of moving, but there are (far) less of the other cases than there were of Belgian Yeti. And they'll cost more.

Not to hijack the thread, but why is it now extinct? I stumbled upon a single bottle not every seeing it before and have been pretty excited to crack it open. How many batches have they made in the past if this cellared version is two years old?

edit: just looked at my bottle and noticed it was bottled in June 2012 stamp so...one enormous batch was made two years ago? Was this a one-off that didn't sell well?

And I randomly saw 2 bottles of this at a store in San Antonio yesterday on vacation down here.....

To be honest...I didn't like it very much when it came out, but $2/bottle for a case...I'll take my chances. If it's not good, someone (or 11 people) are getting Belgian Yeti in their stockings during the holidays.

Seems like most people didn't like the yeast profile when it was fresh...had one last night and from my recollection of when I had it two years ago, the yeast definitely seemed to be less pronounced. So you may enjoy it if that's what you didn't like the first time around. But yeah for $25....worth a risk. I enjoyed it last night.

Has GD done any other one off Yeti batches that they haven't made again, besides Belgian (at least that have been bottled)?

They've made a few other Yeti beers, but none of them have made it to bottles. The addition of Oatmeal Yeti was a bit of a surprise as most people figured it would be one of the previous 1-offs.
The ones I can recall offhand are Vanilla Anise Yeti (horrid), Baby Yeti (St. Bridgits?), Chocolate Cherry Yeti, Bretty Yeti, and Fireside Yeti (BA Espresso).
There are probably some others, too.

I love fresh Belgian Yeti. I attribute them killing it off to that trend of Belgian'izing everything dying off. They 86'd Belgica, too.
For the folks that still like the stuff - River North's Avarice isn't far off. Buy a bottle and sit on it for a couple months to mellow out the fire and it's pretty close.

Chocolate Cherry sounds awesome...if it tasted as good as it sounds, I wish they would have bottled that instead of Oatmeal! I don't hate the Oatmeal, but it's definitely my least favorite of them.

I have a BA Avarice from last year, I should probably think about cracking that open soon. And I have one more B'Side Avarice....anyone know how it is currently drinking?

Bretty Yeti I think was by far the worst sour beer I've ever had at Avery SourFest.

When I see Yeti, I instantly think WOW this should be a great beer. Unfortunately with how many versions have come out I wonder if they are watering down that at all. I would like to think they play in the tap room until they perfect it and then it is gifted a Yeti name.

Any idea the warehouse conditions it was cellared in? Refrigerated? Conditioned at all?

At $25 a case I'm willing to roll the dice, but just wondering.

Refrigerated the entire time. In the dark.

Did anybody go to this last week? Was it crazy or was it possible to walk up with your ticket, buy your case, and get out in a few minutes?
