Is this the first year it's in bombers?

No. Was in bombers from 2005-2010 then switched to 12oz. First year back in bombers.

Good to know! I've only had it once and it was a 12 oz. Very tasty...

How much was a 4pk when in 12oz bottles?

$30 last year IIRC. So price points moved up a bit. My only concern here is if they got it right. By no means starting a rumor or anything, but after BA Xmas fiasco + delay in getting these details out had my eye brow raised. When I asked their Twitter account last week they were "still determining" when it would be released / how and acknowledged the delay.

That's a 31% price hike from last year. Pretty big one-year jump, especially for a beer that's seemed less sought after the last few years.

With all of their barrel issues as of late, I'm curious how many people are going to buy their allotment. I'm guessing you can get your samples before buying bottles?

In the past, yes you can have samples at the party before buying bottles. Now if you're buying bottles on Tuesday, I can't see how you'd be able to sample first.

That's how I feel. Too many other good things to put my beer budget toward than to roll the dice here.

Response from their Twitter account on tasting, "yes, guests at the party will be able to purchase up to four bottles." So I think @RyanMcFly1985 hit the head.

I bet these are fine, I think they have too much riding on it to fuck up again.

But the p/p limits are down considerably at the party this year, and they had a label approved for distribution, so I would bet dollars to Dortmunder that there was some compromised product that got dumped and they had initially planed on a much bigger release.

That math makes sense. I remember your post on the labels and then was trying to figure out why the limits are so low. 88/66oz this year vs 288oz last year. That would seem like a reasonable deduction.

It's a shame because great lakes is a brewery that helped grow my love for craft beer from a miller lite guy years ago. I hope these bottles are fine and hold up but it happens, look at what goose island is dealing with currently on their coffee/barleywine. I just miss the days when lake Erie monster was a really big deal to me. Simpler times!

Enjoy the party all that plan on attending!

I think they may have lowered the limits this year because of all the grief they took last year. Remember on the day after the release party last year, they ran out of product only about an hour or two after opening their doors. Many folks traveled and were unable to obtain product after showing up only a couple hours after the doors opened. Lot's of hate mail.

Also, just checked my confirmation from last year and it was $40. So the price didn't go up. I think it was $30 in 2014.

Was $15 in 2009, but obviously the beer scene has changed quite a bit. Plus you only got 3 samples that year as opposed to 6 now.

I actually think with the 6 samples and food, the $40 is worth it. I used to feel differently when they made it $30 in 2010 because there really wasn't a ton of food. They have since improved on that.

Now upping the price per ounce when they recently had infection issues with other beers...well, that's a whole other discussion. Bold move, IMO, but the beer will still sell out.

    Lower Limits + 22oz bottles + wax dipped + higher price per ounce = Whales...Sperm Whales:wink:
