How on earth did I miss that this was not BABOS?!?! Anyway, like I said, I've always found the barrel light in BABOS, which isn't necessarily a problem, but I definitely don't want it lighter than it is. And to me, something seemed off about BABOS 2015. I'm not sure how to describe it. The best I can think of is that it has a potato chip note to it.

I loved it when I first had it, but it was one of the first BA stouts I ever had. With the price and lack of distro, I'm not planning on even trying to get some again as there is stuff on the shelf I would take over it (a recent blind tasting I did went Deth's Tar, BA Siberian Night, '14 BABOS, '14 BA BORIS, '15 Dragon's Milk, '15 BABOS). But, if they put out something comparable to 2014 at some point, I would reconsider.

    Anyway, thanks for the clarification!

Update on aged Blackout Stout: did a side by side of my one year old 2015 against 2016. 2015 had less alcohol, more hops, more complexity overall. 2016 was more straight chocolate, roast, malt, and a little alcohol. The 2015 was vastly superior. Comparing my 2014 to 2015 post from last year, maybe 2015 was just a better year, age aside.
