My sister in law just dropped off a growler of this beer and I cant find much more info than what is listed on GL website: "A dry red ale with a toasty malt backbone and a bold, bitter finish." It says 8.8% ABV and 88 IBU, so its gotta be pretty hoppy. Don't see any reviews or entries on BA or RB. Anyone tried this one? She said it was to commemorate the 25 anniversary of the pub. Does this beer have an alias on BA/RB?
It's not solely to commemorate GLBC's 25th anniversary but it is a new, never seen before brew. It is one of several brand new, brewpub-only beers being release this year, just as Rye of the Tiger and Alchemy Hour were added to the seasonal bottle lineup. Look for the collab coming out later this year with Deschutes. Cheers!
Tried it today. Much more bitter and dry on the finish than Nosferatu, also lacks the citrus of Nos but has a toasted note mid palate. It was good, but I enjoy Nos a bit more.
Did they bottle this for the giftshop too or is it just on-tap only? I might swing there tomorrow.. I see they have Moondog on-tap
Lol. I know the feeling. Been a Bears fan since I was in diapers. Wish I had the picture of me as a toddler with my replica Bears helmet on the computer, I'd post it
ALWAYS! Almost to a fault to every coach, GM, owner and QB since coming back in '99. Memo to the new group of the aforementioned...either get it right or prepare for a bitter city beat down dawg pound style because we will wear your ass right outta town just ask all those who tried and failed since '99. They all thought they knew, but they have no idea of this city's disgruntled and beleaguered fan base that circle like sharks & await the first sign of weakness...sorry, sorry post draft hangover. Hope Red Right is just as good as the Cleveland Brown Ale...
So, as a Bears fan, does Jay Cutler confound you as much as he confounds those of us on the outside? Btw, how far north does Weasel Boys distro currently travel in Ohio??
I prefer not to speak about Jay Cutler. He's about as infuriating as a QB can be. Great one moment, a total bellend the next. As far as Weasel Boy being north, it's mainly limited to Marysville, Columbus, Newark, Athens, Cambridge, Coshocton, Zanesville, and Dresden. I know that they've done events further north, like Akron, but otherwise, there's no regular distro in northern Ohio. IF they decide to expand any, it'll be at a time when Jay and Lori feel it's good for them to do so. As it sits, I deliver for them once/twice a week, sometimes 5+ accounts per day depending on where I'm going. I think that you may see them expand within the next year. We've added a ton of new ones so far this year, and I don't see that slowing down.
Good to hear, I frequent Columbus, the Hocking Area & Athens @ least a couple times a year and after Jackie O's(which I've been to several times), Weasel Boy is definitely one that's high on my least. I'd like to say I'm surprised by your Cutler take but I'm not as that seems to be most Bears fan's response.
Well, there's a new BA beer in the works, along with a new batch of Mango Wheat (was brewed on Friday).
