I'm not afraid to admit that I'm influenced a bit about a beer if I see a bottle or label that I find appealing. I'd never thought of this before a recent acquisition that I'm now looking at.

I've always liked the Lost Abbey and Russian River 375s. They are just cool looking; they're like treasures - cool shaped bottle; neat labels; and corked and caged - they're just cool. There are other examples, I'm sure and I just name a couple of examples.

I also like labels. I love the Bruery's labels; Zombie Dust, Sexual Chocolate, . . .hell, there are several dozens, I'm sure, that we can all name that appeal to us in one way or another.

However, I don't think I've ever seen a bottle, over all, like the one I got this week from a friend who sent it to me. Captain Lawrence Hops n' Roses. Wow. The bottle, label and cap are like works of art. They are extremely appealing and just reflect quality and richness and an artistic character.

The bottle is a great shape and super "shiney and smooth." It looks very bright and, for some reason, just different from other bottles. Different glass? Different way of cleaning? I have no idea.

The label is nice art but more importantly it is super high grade and classy. It's shiney and coated and matches the bottle. It's all integrated and shiney and rich and expensive looking.

Even the cap! I've never seen a cap like the one on this bottle. It is also sort of raised and looks like glazed porcelain. In fact, the entire bottle looks like glazed procelain.

Anyway, we all talk of such crazy beer topics I thought I'd throw this in the mix. However, truth be told, I really like the way this bottle feels and looks. Kudos to Capt. L. JMO

Oh, by the way, I've not even tasted the beer yet! However, let's face it.....I'm going to want to like it! I hope it meets my expectations....

Have 2 bottles in the cellar and drank a bunch of it at the Vermont Brewer's Festival. It's delicious like most of Captain Lawrence other brews. You will not be disappointed sir.

(Not regarding the particular beer in question, which I've never had, just a general comment on how packaging influences us).

    Pretty hard to beat.

I've always liked the ceramic Rogue XS flip-top bottles too (may not be actual ceramic, probably just painted glass I'm guessing):

You have to admit, this one is unique and distinctive. I don't think I've ever bought or tasted it, but I'm always at least halfway tempted to pick one up just for fun.

I love the Hill Farmstead labels, all slightly different colors and variations but the same cool logo.
Same thing with the bruery, of which I really dig the fact that every label is cut slightly differently.

There are only two reasons I keep a bottle. It's a real/personal walezbro or great artwork. Of the latter, this is one of my bottles.

I love that Utopias makes it an old fashioned brew kettle. When I went to new glarus and did the self tour i made some utopias jokes at their tanks' expense

As far as labels go I think Anchorage Brewing company has some of the dopest bottles... Bitter Monk specifically.

As much as I loved the contents, I got a huge "Ed Hardy brah!!!!" vibe from the Hops n Roses label.

As long as I live I will never throw this beer bottle out. Hell, bury me with the sum'bitch

I never noticed it until I had a bottle in my hand and subsequently took a macro shot, but this is one of the most gorgeous labels I have ever seen. The stars especially.
