We may be running out of shake puns, but we’ll never run out of fresh takes on one of our favorite sour series. The newest version is loaded with aaalllllll the blueberry and vanilla for a tart ale that still packs a punch with that 10% abv.

Hold on to your yoga pants! This sweater weather has us all aflutter with #FallVibes, and Great Notion is whipping up our first-ever pumpkin spice beer. Our PSL-inspired imperial stout is saturated with plenty of coffee and vanilla, then spiced up with cinnamon, clove, ginger, and nutmeg. It’s truly too gourd to be true (but don't worry, no pumpkins were harmed in the making of this beer).

Alberta Again!

Our tanks runneth over, and we are canning off a fresh round of special brews from our Alberta brewery, including:

Guava Cheesecake Mochi
(7.2% abv) $20/4pack
Guava Cheesecake Mochi is a tropical IPA brewed with toasted rice, milk sugar, graham cracker, guava, and Motueka hops before being conditioned on vanilla and Korintje cinnamon.

Blue Razzberry Fizz
(7% abv) $14/4pack
Our second-ever hard seltzer is mad science! “I’ll have one blue raspberry snow cone and one jumbo cotton candy please.”

Blueberry Fluff
(8.25% abv) $20/4pack
Speaking of cotton candy, this confectionary tart ale was brewed with flaked oats, blueberry puree, floss sugar and vanilla.

Purple People Eater
(7% abv) $20/4pack
This tart ale was fermented with concord grapes and inspired by one of our favorite childhood drinks. OH YEAAHH!!

Street of Dreams
(7.8% abv) $20/4pack
A newly discovered yeast strain from Philadelphia makes for an easy drinking tart ale with a clean and bright acidity. The addition of Meyer lemon and Oregon raspberry might just take you down this Street of Dreams.

Upcoming Drops

A Yeti Story

Ho, ho, hooo. We triple-dog dare you not to love this festive stout! A Yeti Story is a fudge-ing delicious imperial stout brewed with rich chocolate and tons of cool peppermint for a chilly Yeti treat.

El Santo
(11.6% abv) $25/4pack
Quick correction to last week’s Notions - El Santo is a collab with 3 Sons Brewing out of sunny Florida! These guys specialize in inventive brewing, and you know we can get on board with that. This heavyweight imperial stout is thick and spicy, brewed with chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and ancho and pasilla chiles for a bit of a kick.

Champurrado
(10% abv) $25/4pack
Inspired by the thick, warm Mexican drink of the same name, Champurrado is an imperial stout brewed with chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and orange peel to celebrate the season. All you need to complete the picture is a pot of fresh, hot tamales!

Baked (Cherry)
(6% abv) $21/4pack
Take a break from holiday baking and crack open a can of this tart ale instead. Plump cherries along with vanilla, cinnamon, and milk sugar make for a beer that’s just as good as a pie straight from the oven.

Blueberry Muffin
(6% abv) $20/4pack
The tasty treat that can’t be beat – your favorite tart ale, Blueberry Muffin, returns! With swirls of vanilla and blueberry, this beer is a confectionary delight on par with its namesake pastry.

Juice Jr.
(6% abv) $18/4pack
Masses of Mosaic hops impart subtle tropical notes to this classic hazy IPA. A fresh batch of our flagship, Juice Jr, hits the coolers midweek, so get ready for a restock!



Beanies!

Come and get 'em! Beanies are in the house for all Brushhogs, Whistlepunks, and Timberbeasts who made it to the Brushhog level or above before 10/1/2020. If you are in the lucky crew, you should have received an email this week with more details on when and how to collect your beanies, so check those inboxes! Didn't receive your email? Don't know when you leveled up? Shoot us an email at [email protected] or ask at the front desk, and we can check the rolls for you to see if you met the deadline. And never fear, if you didn't make the 10/1 cutoff, the next one is 1/1, so you won't have to wait too long for your beanie!

We know those shipping delays were a bummer, so THANK YOU for your patience, and for all of your support with the app!




Shipping is Live

That's right - if you live in the great state of Oregon, you can now order GN beer right to your door, and all in-stock merch is available to be shipped nationwide! We are partnering with UPS to get beer in your hands within a day or two from the time you place your order. A couple things to note before getting your box shipped:

-Make sure to select Shipping, not Delivery!

-There are no minimum or maximum purchase amounts, but the stated daily allotments per beer still apply.

-We are using a flat rate of $20 for up to a case (six 4packs), increasing by $20 as you move into your second case. (1-6 4packs =$20, 7-12 4packs = $40, and so on).

-Merch shipping is $10 for order under $100, but free for any orders over $100. Merch shipping is also free with beer purchases over $54 (three 4packs).

-Be sure to add your name and address to your profile on the app before placing an order.

-Someone 21+ must be available to accept the delivery with an ID.

You can visit our shipping FAQ here for lots of other info. We will start expanding beer shipping gradually to other states in the coming weeks and months as allowed by local liquor laws, so keep an eye out for GN in your neck of the woods in the future!

This Double IPA was fermented with a special yeast blend highlighting the superstars in your can! Citra, Mosaic, and Vic Secret.

Luminous 07

This Sour IPA was dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin and conditioned on a graham cracker, caramel, marshmallow, and vanilla. *contains milk sugar

People Eater (Cherry)

This tart cherry ale was inspired by one of our favorite childhood drinks. OH YEAAHH!!



Hey Timbercrew!

The next cutoff for any rewards in Quarter 1 of 2021 is 1/1! Get those points up before then!

Winter Merch

Just in time for some last minute Christmas shopping, our winter merch collection is now available in stores and on the app!

Above: Unleash your inner wolf (or basketball star) with this new varsity jacket. This slick black jacket is super classic in its styling, including black and white striped ribbed cuffs and collar and a snap-front closure. But you know we gave it a little GN twist with a rad Midnight Howler patch on the breast and our logo printed in crisp white across the shoulders! The100% Nylon outer shell is coated with Durable Water Resistance to keep you dry through the wet days ahead, and the lining is 100% polyester. Available in unisex sized S-2XL. Machine wash cold and hang to dry. Water resistant coating may begin to wear off with too many washings. ($75)





You can never have too many flannels here in the PNW! This buffalo plaid flannel is an attractive blend of hunter green and black and features our logo embroidered above the left-hand breast pocket and brass buttons along the placket. The Great Notion logo is emblazoned along the length of the scarf with green on one side and white on the reverse, finished off with a pair of coordination cross-axe lumberjacks for good measure. We love our Juice Jr. hot sauce (and know that you do too!) so we are adding two new sauces to our line up:

Perfect for any application, Maple Ancho Stout Hot Sauce is made with ancho chilis, sweet bell peppers, jalapeños, and Double Stack for depth and a hint of maple sweetness. This sauce brings just enough heat but won’t blow your head off. ($10)

Next, we really cranked up the heat with this Hot Pants Wicked Hot Sauce! A fiery blend of ghost chili peppers, habaneros, and Jammy Pants, this sauce is not for the faint of heart. ($10)





Cozy up with your quarantine pod this winter for some jigsaw fun. Featuring the most lovable Yeti and his double fudge brownie, this puzzle is 120 pieces, and best enjoyed with a nice thick stout. Just make sure you don’t guzzle that imperial too quickly! ($8)





Gotta collect ‘em all! You may have seen these packs of trading cards in our taprooms, but now they are available on the app as well. Each card features the stats of a favorite GN character on one side and a dope sticker on the reverse. ($10)



Holiday Hours

We can’t believe it, but the holidays are already upon us! Here’s what you need to know about how our hours and operations will be affected.

-All Great Notion locations will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and will be closing at 4pm on Christmas Eve.

-App orders will remain open!

-If you place an order on 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, or 1/1, you will have an extra day to pick up your order to account for the days we are closed.

-Local delivery orders placed from 12/23 - 12/25 will go out on 12/26, and orders placed on 12/31 or 1/1 will go out on 1/2.

-If you place a shipping order, please note that our holiday closures will also affect shipping times. Shipping orders placed from 12/23 - 12/25 will be processed and picked up by UPS on 12/26, and orders placed on 12/31 or 1/1 will be processed on 1/2. UPS may also face delays based on increased volume.

-Online support hours will also be affected, but don’t worry! We’ll get to any app or order issues first thing on Monday. You can check out our App FAQ and our Shipping FAQ for answers any general questions in the meantime.

3Notions Fridays is also signing off for 2020! This is our last newsletter of the year, but don’t worry, we’ll be back in a couple of weeks with more exciting updates. Keep up with us on our social media channels in the meantime. We’ll also be sending out a year-end survey, so check your inboxes and give us all your feedback!





Bonus Notion!

Mark your calendars - after months of planning and preparation, we are finally ready to open our doors at Great Notion Ballard! 12/28 is our projected opening day, and we can't wait to meet our new neighbors and guests. We will be open for app pickups only while we keep an eye on COVID numbers, but once indoor dining is safe, we will have a food menu and will be able to welcome guests of all ages.
